After suffering Tuesday’s defeat to Saudi Arabia, Argentina have little time to lick their wounds.
Argentina find themselves bottom of Group C and if they suffer a second successive World Cup defeat, their hopes of outright victory may just go up in smoke.

Argentina v Mexico Match Preview
A Very Messi Situation
When Lionel Messi stroked his penalty home on Tuesday, the feeling was just how much Argentina were going to beat Saudi Arabia by. Especially as they then repeatedly had the ball placed in the same net.
Unfortunately for them, the flag of the assistant referee would be a constant thorn in their side. Unfortunately for them, Saudi Arabia would manage to pull off one of the most incredible comeback victories in the history of the tournament.
A defeat that arguably sees Group C looking as if it is upside down at present and with Mexico currently placed neatly in the middle, is it the Central American nation who serve as Argentina’s next opponents.
While Mexico find themselves with a point to their name and this came largely because of the antics of their goalkeeper. A keeper that you only see every four years before he seemingly goes back into football hibernation.
The man in question is Guillermo Ochoa and after he managed to save Robert Lewandowski’s penalty on Tuesday, Mexican fans in attendance celebrated as if a goal had just been scored at the other end.
An act that eluded Tata Martino’s men in midweek, but it is an act they will need to carry out at the weekend. Failure to breach the Argentine defence and they will be left with plenty to do against Saudi Arabia.
While there is a neat subplot when it comes to Tata Martino. Not only was he previously the Argentina manager but he also took the reins at Barcelona during the 2014/15 season and would have kept a certain Messi under his watchful eye.
Now the Mexican defence will need to keep the PSG forward under their watchful eyes and with the Argentinian having a point to prove, the best way to do that is by earning three points this coming Saturday.
With that in mind, our latest bet builder is now up for grabs, and it looks like this:
- Lautaro Martinez to score first
- Argentina half time/full time
- Under 5 total goals
In terms of the bet builder. I have placed the focus squarely on Lautaro Martinez. After being foiled by an offside flag in his last outing, he will be keen to officially open his scoring account against Mexico.
While after throwing away their lead in the second half, I see no such Argentinian generosity this time and therefore, I am backing a half time/full time win for Messi and company. Add these to no more than four total goals and this one is currently priced at odds of 10/1.
