Just How Many

The first of our four clashes takes us to Ligue 1, as league leaders PSG prepare to play host to Auxerre. With the hosts currently finding themselves five points clear at the top, the title race looks like it may have already been won.

Going into this weekend’s 15th league outing of the season, Christophe Galtier’s men are yet to taste defeat and from the first 14 fixtures they have contested, they have managed to win 12. Add four consecutive wins for the Parisians and this is not good news for the visitors.

While like many other teams in this division, Auxerre’s defence is likely to have a torrid time at the Parc des Princes. Which means backing over 2.5 goals will do little to get you or I excited. However, backing over 3.5 at odds of 1.72, will begin to get the accumulator juices flowing.

A Classic Duel

Next up we stay across the English Channel as two of Ligue 1′s chasing pack square off in Monte Carlo. With Monaco and Marseille both six points behind PSG in fifth and fourth respectively, neither can afford to cede further ground to the defending champions.

Going into this encounter, both teams are unbeaten in their last two league outings. The hosts have won 2-0 in both, as Angers at home and Toulouse on the road were brushed aside in routine fashion. While the hosts were held at Strasbourg before bouncing back with a home win over Lyon.

There is little difference between the two sides, which makes the outcome difficult to call. Thankfully, I am only concerned about goals and with both Monaco and Marseille having no issues in that department, I am backing over 2.5 at 4/6

Defending Champions

Now we are off to Italy and a focus on the defending Serie A champions. Although with the way Napoli are playing this season, Milan will not possess that moniker for much longer. With an eight-point gap between the two, the race for the Scudetto is already looking like a foregone conclusion.

Especially as Milan have only managed to win one of their last three outings and as they stutter, they must also prepare for the visit of an inform Fiorentina. With the Viola having won their three league outings, they make the trip to the San Siro in fine fettle.

While although Milan may have a challenge on their hands, they have not been short of goals at home. Seven of their last eight outings have ended with them scoring at least two. With this statistic in mind, I am backing over 2.5 in total at odds of 10/11.

The Chasing Pack

While the final of my four Sunday picks takes me to Germany and the focus is placed on two teams who are doing their best to keep in touch with Bayern Munich at present. For a couple of weeks, we all dreamed of Union Berlin doing the unthinkable.

Unfortunately, the past two weeks have highlighted that league success in the German capital is just a dream. While Sunday’s hosts Freiburg have also ceded ground to the Bayern juggernaut after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at RB Leipzig.

Now though, the challenge is to secure the title of best of the rest and although Freiburg are averaging 1.50 and Union Berlin 1.64 goals respectively, both will want to bounce back with a statement Bundesliga win on Sunday. Therefore, I am backing over 2.5 goals at 11/10.

While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 10.07/1 in return.
