The second night of Champions League action is upon us, and I’m hoping for plenty of goals, just like we saw on Tuesday.
For Wednesday night, I’ve picked out three players who I fancy to bag a goal, and combined together they create a tasty treble, paying 16/1.
Daichi Kamada to score for Frankfurt v Sporting Lisbon
Harry Kane to score for Tottenham v Marseille
Diogo Jota to score for Liverpool v Napoli
Diachi Kamada (Frankfurt v Sporting Lisbon)
The Japanese attacking midfielder is in sublime form right now, and he’s fancied to keep it up as Frankfurt embark on their Champions League campaign. He’s scored three goals in four Bundesliga games so far, and added a further two goals in the DFB-Pokal, so five in total, an impressive start.
We’ve seen Frankfurt attack in Europe in the past, so don’t be worried about them sitting in here. They are going to go forward and try to win this game, and if recent performances are anything to go by, Kamada is going to be front and centre of most things they do.
A goal for him in the early start kicks off our treble.
Harry Kane (Tottenham v Marseille)
The line leader for Tottenham, their main man, and someone who knows where the back of the net is. This is a game where I really fancy Tottenham to create a lot of chances, and score a few, and I’m hoping Kane gets on the end of at least one of them.
Kane’s bagged five goals in six Premier League games so far, and is really beginning to find his groove, he should probably have had another couple recently, given the chances that have been falling to him.
He did find the net against Fulham at the weekend, and he’s my second pick to follow up that goal with another here.
Diogo Jota (Napoli v Liverpool)
Jurgen Klopp is already talking about the amount of games his team are playing, so expect a couple of changes to his starting eleven here. Combine that with watching his side go 90 minutes without scoring against Everton at the weekend, and it’s safe to say at least one of those changes will come in attack.
I’m hoping Jota starts the game, but even if he doesn’t an appearance at the end could well be enough for him to have a chance of scoring here. The winger got 10 minutes against Everton, and given Liverpool’s slow start to the season (by their high standards) he will know that he can stake a claim for a regular start with a strong comeback now he’s returning to the fold.
Liverpool need someone to kickstart their season, and really get them going. Jota is on his way back, and could be the man to do that. He rounds off our anytime scorer treble for Wednesday night, in the hope he gets at least half an hour to showcase his talent.
