We go for goals on Saturday at the World Cup, focusing on the over/under goals market, and combining a selection in all four games, to create our daily acca. We kick off with the opening game at 10am, and have an interest throughout the day.
World Cup Over/Under Goals Acca 16/1 - Saturday 10am Start
We’ve got four legs lined up for this bet, as follows:
- Tunisia v Australia - Under 1.5 Goals
- Poland v Saudi Arabia - Under 2.5 Goals
- France v Denmark - Over 2.5 Goals
- Argentina v Mexico - Under 2.5 Goals
Tunisia v Australia - Under 1.5 Goals
I think a tight, low scoring game is on the cards for the opener, one that will either see no goals, or be decided by the odd goal.
Tunisia defended very well against Denmark in their opener, preventing them from scoring, and I think they can do the same to Australia here. While at the other end, although Australia conceded four against France, they aren’t that bad defensively, and their task is much tougher here.
A big game for both sides, one that could see a nervy, edgy start, so it’s under 1.5 goals to kick us off.
Poland v Saudi Arabia - Under 2.5 Goals
Another game that could have few scoring opportunities in it, a theme with all bar one game on Saturday.
Saudi Arabia defended very well after taking the lead against Argentina, and crucially here, they don’t actually have to go out and win this one, a draw would suit them fine.
Poland do, but offered very little against Mexico, yes they’ve got Robert Lewandowski, but he’s no good without service. In similar fashion to the opening game, this could be decided by the odd goal, so it’s under 2.5 goals here for me.
France v Denmark - Over 2.5 Goals
the game where I do fancy goals, mainly due to France, is this one. I thought the French were excellent in the final third in their opener, even without Karim Benzema.
Kylian Mbappe was exceptional for his team, taking on an even bigger role due to absentees, and Olivier Giroud showed he can still finish.
Denmark were poor in their opener, I think an early France goal will force them out of their shell, and that should lead to plenty more, so it’s over 2.5 goals here.
Argentina v Mexico - Under 2.5 Goals
We go back to games that have a tight, cagey feel to them for the final tip. Argentina have pressure on their backs, they face a fellow South American side here, Mexico will feel good about a draw in this one, and all of that points to another low scoring game.
Argentina of course have an abundance of attacking talent, so we’re taking a risk here, but given how they ended their opener, the talk afterwards, the pressure, and the fact this is a tough game against a rival South American country, all points towards this being low scoring, regardless of who wins.
