And just like that, we find ourselves at the first midweek matchday of the new EFL season.
I’m going for goals as the temperatures begin to cool and my Both Teams to Score (BTTS) acca comes in at 22/1.
- Burnley v Hull
- Bristol City v Luton
- Bolton v Morecambe
- Burton v Ipswich
- Crewe v Sutton
Burnley v Hull
It’s been a bit of a mixed bag so far for Burnley on their return to the second tier, but at home they’ve scored in each of their last seven at Turf Moor.
And three of Hull’s opening four games in league and cup have seen both teams score, including the Tigers’ impressive win over Norwich last weekend.
Bristol City v Luton
All of Bristol City’s four competitive games this season have seen BTTS ticked off, while the same can be said of two of Luton’s last three.
This fixture has some form for goals too, with the last four meetings seeing each side nick at least a goal.
Bolton v Morecambe
There tends to be plenty of goals at the University of Bolton Stadium, with both sides scoring in six of the last seven games there.
And Morecambe will fancy their chances of bagging, having netted in four of their last five away games, as well as on both of their previous visits to Bolton.
Burton v Ipswich
The Brewers have found their scoring boots after netting four in their dramatic draw at Accrington on Saturday, but this leaky defence has already conceded 13 in league and cup.
Ipswich top League One at this early stage but have kept just one clean sheet in four, so I fancy a few goals in east Staffordshire.
Crewe v Sutton
They may have lost 3-0 at the weekend, but Crewe had scored five in their previous couple of League Two outings and have found the net in each of their last four at home, stretching over to last season.
Sutton, meanwhile, have won one, drawn one and lost one of their opening trio of fourth-tier games, but they’ve scored in the lot.
