After a five-week break, Premier League football is back and there is an intriguing game to tuck into on Boxing Day evening when Aston Villa entertains Liverpool.
Well, as far as Liverpool are concerned, they will have had a good run out against Manchester City in the EFL Cup to warm them up for this one.
Villa, meanwhile, will be up for this one. They have turned things around and they are looking like a well-drilled unit under Unai Emery.

Aston Villa v Liverpool Betting Tips
Both these teams enter this fixture in fine fettle form wise, as they had won their last two league games before the World Cup.
But how will this one pan out? To whet your appetite, we have scoured the markets and picked out a couple of tips to add to your betting slips.
Liverpool to stay in hunt for top four
After a largely indifferent first half of the campaign, the minimum remit for Liverpool remains a top-four berth. It has now become an eminently achievable target, especially as they lie in sixth spot, seven points off Tottenham, but the Reds have a game in hand.
While Villa have struggled at times for goals this term, this fixture has brought out the best in them, and who could forget their astonishing 7-2 win over Liverpool back in 2020?
Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, may have to handle his stars carefully for the festive period, but they will want to get back up into their stride as quickly as possible.
The run of games looks kind for the Merseysiders especially as they will be predominantly taking on mid-table teams.
And this is a game I don’t suspect Liverpool will slip up in. Two of the past three meetings between Villa and Liverpool have hit the Over 2.5 goals section.
There seems to be little value in the Liverpool to win and both teams to score market. So, instead, I have plumped for Liverpool to prevail by a winning margin of two goals, which is paying out at odds of 17/4 with Unibet.
Roberto Firmino to continue fine form
The pain of not playing for his native Brazil at the World Cup may have subsided a little, and Roberto Firmino will be raring to go.
Perhaps the five-week break will have done him the world of good, and prior to the World Cup, he was in fine form.
With seven goals registered in the Premier League, Firmino is Liverpool’s top scorer, and he is producing some of his best football this term.
Villa can’t afford to let him drift off into pockets of space or switch off for a single moment, otherwise, Firmino will make them pay.
Firmino will relish the challenge, and it could well be a fruitful day for him scoring wise. If you are tempted by the goalscorer markets, then you can locate a price of 15/2 with Paddy Power for Firmino to net a double.
