The Seagulls have been transformed over the past 12 months by Roberto de Zerbi, and the Italian masterminded his side’s fourth consecutive Premier League win over Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.

However, juggling European and domestic commitments will be a test for De Zerbi’s men, who have a tricky group to escape from (Group B) which also features Ajax and Marseille.

Having sat out the thumping victory over United with a minor muscle issue, Brighton will hope to restore Solly March to the fold.

AEK Athens, meanwhile, are still looking to find their feet this term, but they have claimed a top-three finish in the Greek Super League for six seasons on the trot.

Estonian referee Kristo Tohver will be the man in the middle, but he is quite card happy, judging by the fact he has brandished at least three yellows in the 12 fixtures he has handled this term.

This will be the first time that Brighton will be facing AEK Athens, but how will this one unravel? I have unearthed a couple of betting tips for you to consider ahead of kick-off.

Brighton to get off to winning start

As mentioned, sterner tests lie ahead for Brighton in Group B, but it wouldn’t be unfair to label De Zerbi a tactical genius. Indeed, Brighton have become one of the most exciting sides to watch in the Premier League.

A cursory glance at some of the league stats since De Zerbi succeeded Graham Potter on the South Coast suggests so. This includes average possession (62% under De Zerbi) and touches in the opposition box (1228) points to the progress they have made.

AEK Athens, meanwhile, missed out on the Champions League after a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Royal Antwerp, so it’s fair to say they won’t succumb without a whimper.

De Zerbi could well shake things up a little bit, but I think Brighton might just shade this one.

For my first pick, I have leant into the Correct Score section and gone with Brighton to edge this contest 2-1. Unibet is on hand to offer odds of 8/1 if you are tempted.

Correct Score Prediction

Evan Ferguson the head boy

Supposedly, Evan Ferguson was a target for Manchester United over the summer, but Brighton aren’t ready to part company with one of their prize assets.

While the Seagulls have arguably adopted the Borussia Dortmund transfer model replacing quality with quality, Ferguson is one of those precious players that can change games.

Having already netted four times in the league this term, Ferguson is well on his way to eclipsing his tally of last season (nine in all competitions).

Brighton have plenty of matchwinners in their side, and Ferguson can score all types of goals, including glancing headers and impish flicks.

Anyway, for my second tip, I have turned towards the specials, and I like the look of the 11/1 price served up at Betway for Ferguson to net with a header.
