Just Warming Up

After suffering two defeats in their first pair of Championship encounters, it seems as if Bristol City have finally got going for 2022/23 and now, they have managed to earn four points from the last six on offer.

While three of those came as recent as midweek, as they got the better of Luton at Ashton Gate and when you consider that Nathan Jones’ men made the play-offs just a few months ago, that would have been a rather pleasing win in the red half of Bristol.

Now though, Nigel Pearson and his players must deal with an outfit that have made a rather impressive start to this campaign and it is one that comes in the shape of a travelling Cardiff City side.

Before this weekend’s Championship festivities get underway, Cardiff find themselves lying sixth in the table and although positions at this juncture should not be given too much credence, it will still be a welcome sight to their supporters.

Going into Sunday’s trip to Bristol, Steve Morrison’s men have picked up seven points from the 12 that have been made available and the only blemish on their copybook to date, is a 2-1 away reverse to Reading.

That defeat came in Cardiff’s second outing of the season and with the Bluebirds finishing 12 points clear of The Royals at the end of the 2021/22 schedule, that loss at the Madejski Stadium may have been considered something of a surprise.

However, the tallies are always reset to zero by the time August comes around and with any club capable of taking points of any other at this level, there are always going to be coupon busters lurking around the corner.

Which brings us neatly to our first tip before Sunday’s meeting at Ashton Gate and although Bristol City are unbeaten in their last two outings, I like the look of Cardiff’s enhanced price that comes courtesy of Bet365.

With the bookmaker currently offering odds of 7/2 for an away win, I think this is worth some extra consideration and especially as the Welsh outfit are also unbeaten in their last two league outings.

While for those who like a correct score bet to make things a little more interesting, I also think this could be a rather tight affair and therefore, I am also backing a narrow 1-0 win for Cardiff at odds of 10/1.
