Costa Rica v Germany Free Bets, Betting Tips & Preview

It will be make-or-break for Germany when they tussle with Costa Rica in their final Group E match on Thursday evening.

Group E is wide open and extremely competitive, but the scenario is simple for Germany. If they beat Costa Rica and Spain overcomes Japan, then they will be through to the Round of 16.

Costa Rica v Germany Match Preview

As far as Costa Rica is concerned, they will progress if their result betters that of Japan’s against Spain, and the stakes will be high.

Germany may not make too many changes to the side that drew 1-1 against Spain earlier in the week. Perhaps Leroy Sane will be handed a starting berth after he made a 20-minute cameo, but there’s little room for error for Hansi Flick’s charges.

We are eagerly anticipating this encounter, and we have lined up a couple of tips to add to your betting slips before kick-off.

Germany to lift themselves off the canvas

The time is now for Germany. Things may look doom and gloom at the bottom of Group E, and while they may appear to be on the brink of elimination, things can quickly change.

There were some positives to take from the draw against Spain, as they ruffled the feathers of Luis Enrique’s troops and they were defensively resolute.

While the defeat to Japan, meanwhile, was rather sobering, Germany know what is required. And the fact they have won six of their eight World Cup clashes against CONCACAF nations bodes well as they prepare to take on Costa Rica.

Worryingly for Costa Rica, they have scored just once in their two games to date, and they have mustered just four attempts on goal, which underlines how toothless they have been.

Germany should have no issues creating chances, especially with the likes of Jamal Muisala pulling the strings in midfield, and Germany should run out comfortable winners. I have a hunch Germany will clinch a 2-0 win and Spain will do them a favour by seeing off Japan. If you are swayed by a 2-0 victory, bet365 is advertising a price of 7/1 in the Correct Score section.

Thomas Muller to finally open his account

Given that this could be his final World Cup appearance, Thomas Muller won’t want to go out without a whimper.

He has been an effervescent presence for Germany for the best part of a decade, and he has contributed so much.

With 10 World Cup goals to his name, it is alarming that he is yet to muster a single shot in Qatar. Against Spain, for example, he was limited to just 18 touches off the ball during his 70 minutes on the pitch before he was substituted.

However, Muller could well open his account for this campaign, and grab the first goal of the game. Paddy Power has obliged with odds of 5/1, which is worth following up on.
