Four Picks Across Wednesday EFL Cup Matches

Road To Wembley

If you like your football to be knockout based, then we have four of the very best EFL Cup bets for you.

No Major Priority

The first of our four clashes takes us to the Gtech Community Stadium, as Brentford play host to Arsenal and with this having the extra impetus of a London derby, this Carabao Cup tie should be full of fizz.

With that being said, one wonders how thirsty Mikel Areta is when it comes to this form of domestic success and with the Carabao Cup being bottom of Arsenal’s priority list, it may just open the door to the hosts instead.

Especially as the Gunners’ injury list has recently had some new additions to it and the opportunity to rest key names is not one to be turned down by Arteta. With that in mind, I am not going to turn down the odds of a Brentford home win at 12/5.

Second Versus First

Next up we go to Anfield and a clash that pits second versus first – second of the Premier League versus first in the Championship, as Liverpool play host to Leicester and both teams will be looking to continue their positive starts to the campaign.

For the Reds it has definitely been a case of Liverpool 2.0 and although the change of midfield personnel was rather quick and brutal in nature, it was arguably necessary at the same time. While for the Foxes, Enzo Maresca has taken to his new managerial surroundings with ease.

One could argue that Liverpool will also consider this encounter as bottom of their priority list, but this pairing does seem more favourable to them and I think odds of 4/9 for the home win are favourable enough for my midweek acca.

Focus On Safety

Now we are off to Villa Park and another all-Premier League tie, as Aston Villa have been paired with Everton. Both teams won in the league at the weekend, only one team can advance to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Just as the teams at the top of the table need to gauge this competition’s importance, the same case could be made for Everton. Do they really need to worry about Wembley when the Premier League trapdoor is poised and ready to collect them?

On the balance of it all, you would have to say probably not and even if Unai Emery decides to ring the changes, you would imagine that the hosts will be strong enough to come out on top and therefore, I am backing the home win at odds of 8/11.

Go For Gold

While my final pick takes me to the LNER Stadium, as League One Lincoln play host to Premier League West Ham and when you consider just how bad the promoted teams have been this season, the Hammers surely have no concerns when it comes to relegation.

In essence, this almost gives David Moyes and his players a free season let alone a free hit and therefore, a deep domestic cup run is something that should certainly be on the agenda of last season’s Europa Conference League winners.

The hosts will be up for the challenge that West Ham will bring but as valiant as Mark Kennedy’s men will be on Wednesday night, I can only envisage the away win in 90 minutes and this one is priced at 2/5.

While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 10.87/1 in return.
