FA Cup Acca Tips
Here’s the picks for our FA Cup acca this weekend:
- Blackburn to beat Birmingham
- Burnley to beat Ipswich
- Sheffield Wednesday to beat Fleetwood
- Preston v Tottenham - both teams to score
No Draws Please
The first of our four takes us to Ewood Park, as Blackburn play host to Birmingham and although the hosts may have played 28 games in this season’s EFL Championship, last Saturday’s draw at Bristol City was the first stalemate of the campaign.
Because as far as Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men are concerned, they either win or lose. There is very rarely a middle ground and although Blackburn’s league form is indifferent, Birmingham’s can only be described as poor.
Amidst fan protests at the weekend, the West Midlands outfit succumbed to a fifth straight league defeat and with Championship survival serving as their main priority, a home win at odds of 13/10 looks a good enough price for me.
In Good Kompany
Next up we are off to Portman Road, as Ipswich play host to Burnley and with Kieran Mckenna’s men going through a rather disastrous run of League One form, they will look for some respite in the FA Cup.
However, such a thing is unlikely to be offered by the Clarets and with manager Vincent Kompany already masterminding a win over Premier League outfit Bournemouth in the previous round, he and his players will certainly be up for the cup.
While they are also looking more than up for promotion to the top tier and with they and Sheffield United both miles clear of the chasing pack, they can certainly treat themselves to a cup run. With this in mind, I am backing the away win at odds of 11/10.
More Routine Matters
Now we are off to Hillsborough and with Sheffield Wednesday being paired with Fleetwood in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, the Owls will be confident of making further progress in this season’s edition the competition.

After getting the better of Newcastle in the previous round, the visit of fellow League One outfit Fleetwood Town should be far easier by comparison and although Scott Brown’s men will look to create a relative upset of their own, the formbook is certainly pointing in the hosts’ favour.
With Darren Moore’s side pulling clear of Ipswich, the Hillsborough outfit are now firmly within the League One automatic promotion places and although a cup run could provide a small distraction, I only envisage that run continuing with a home win at odds of 1/2.
A Safer Option
While the final of my four Saturday picks takes me to Lancashire, as Preston play host to Tottenham and with the form that Antonio Conte’s men are currently in, this has the hallmarks of a potential cup banana skin.
All is certainly not well in the white half of North London and although this competition could finally end Spurs’ lengthy trophy drought, it could also extend their recent anguish at the same time. Which is why, I am unwilling to back an away win on Saturday.
However, Tottenham’s indifferent defence has certainly jolted me towards the both teams to score market and even if Preston cannot land a knockout blow, they should be good for a goal themselves. Therefore, I am adding yes to the coupon at odds of 19/20.
While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 13.12/1 in return.
