Germany v Hungary Nations League Match Preview & Betting Tips for Friday 23rd September

Will Germany topple surprise leaders Hungary?

The top two in Group A3 face off in Munich on Friday evening as Germany and Hungary collide.

Having registered a record-breaking 5-2 win over Italy in their last Nations League outing, this brought to an end a run of three successive draws for Germany.

Nevertheless, Hansi Flick’s charges will finish group winners and qualify for next summer’s finals if they can get the better of Hungary and England in their last two clashes, and that will set them up nicely ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

The only absentee is likely to be Marco Reus who is nursing an ankle injury, and Flick has some decisions to make over his starting XI. One of those pushing for a starting berth is Jamal Muisala, who has been in blistering form for Bayern Munich, and is the club’s top scorer this term with four Bundesliga goals.

Hungary, however, will be no pushovers. When the two sides last met, it was honours even after a 1-1 draw, so this match will make for compelling viewing.

Ahead of kick-off, we have rummaged through the markets and picked out two tips for you to feast on.

Germany to continue to build momentum

Under Flick, Germany are evolving and they are trying to rediscover their sense of identity. So far, they are unbeaten in 13 matches, and they have won nine of them.

While on the face of it, three draws in Group A3 is hardly something to shout about, they are continuing to build momentum and they remain a fearsome prospect.

Germany boasts plenty of attacking weapons and against Hungary, they will need to be patient. If they can probe early on, then Flick and his troops will have some joy.

With the likes of Thomas Muller at their disposal, chances should fall their way. Although Hungary earned a creditable draw in the previous meeting, Germany should come out on top in this one. I think Germany will pinch it 2-1, and should you wish to follow up on this tip, Unibet has odds of 15/2 in the Correct Score section.

Thomas Muller the head boy

Usually referred to as the ‘assist king’ in the Bundesliga, Muller’s international record for Germany, which stands at 44 goals in 116 appearances, is pretty stealthy.

Although Timo Werner is likely to lead the line, you never quite know what you are going to get from him.

You should expect Germany to try and bombard Hungary with plenty of crosses. Leroy Sane, for example, has superb vision and he is good at standing up balls in the area.

Muller has scored a few headers in his time, and if you fancy a special, then William Hill has obliged, pricing up Muller at 12/1 to net with a header.
