Kilmarnock v Celtic Match Preview & Betting Tips - Sunday 14th August

Dan has 9/2, 7/1 and 11/1 tips for Sunday’s clash

With the Scottish Premiership season now in full swing, Celtic will look to extend their perfect start to the season and if they are to do so, they will need to get the better of Kilmarnock.

Dan has three selections for this one, including an 11/1 bet builder, for those looking to lay out a same-game multi.

That Unbeaten Feeling

34 Scottish Premiership matches unbeaten, that is the tale of the tape for Celtic right now and although they were given the slightest of scares at Ross County last weekend, their unbeaten run is still thankfully intact.

A run that was the primary driver in Ange Postecoglou overseeing Celtic’s championship success last season and with the squad considered to be stronger than just a few months prior, this team are not looking to take their foot of the Premiership pedal anytime soon.

Which is bad news for Kilmarnock and although the Rugby Park men would have been celebrating success of their own at the end of last season, their outright win in the Scottish Championship is nothing more than a distant memory.

With just one point earned from the first six on offer, the learning curve for Kilmarnock’s top tier return has been rather steep. Although one could argue that the fixture computer has not been too kind either.

Because after being paired with a Dundee United side that qualified for Europe this season, Kilmarnock were at least good for a point on the opening day of the campaign. However, their follow up performance at Ibrox a week later was largely forgettable.

While life will likely be no easier this weekend, as they welcome Celtic through the doors and with the visitors being clear favourites to come out on top, backing the Hoops to win on the road will not make the bookmakers sweat.

Which is why a drop into the goalscorer markets is offering potential for perspiration and with Jota finding the net at home to Aberdeen on the opening weekend and turning in a man of the match winning performance at Ross County, I fancy him to return to the scoresheet this Sunday.

Should you also share this opinion and want to put your money where your mouth is, you can back the former Benfica player to open proceedings at odds of 9/2 – a price that is certainly worth more than a glance before kickoff.

Of course, one should not forget the prowess of Kilmarnock’s Kyle Lafferty and with the Northern Irish forward having experience of scoring against Celtic in the past, backing him to score anytime at odds of 7/1, might just make things a little more interesting.

As for interest in the other markets, in potential one-sided affairs such as this, the dig for value is always deeper. However, I have come across this tempting bet builder:

Celtic win

Under 3 total goals

Under 3 total cards

While if you put all three combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 11/1 in return.
