Four Picks For Saturday Ligue 1 Matches

Sunday French Foursome

If you are looking to France for your Saturday betting fix, then we have four of our very best Ligue 1 bets to whet your appetite.

Finally Crowned Champions

The first of our four clashes takes us to the Stade de la Meinau, as Strasbourg play host to PSG and with the visitors currently lying six points clear at the top of Ligue 1, Saturday could well be the night in which they are crowned champions.

A night that should have come around far sooner and although the Paris-based outfit have got their house in order with three successive league wins, this current all-star crop has not burned as bright this season.

This team will soon be crowned champions, but it is unlikely to save manager Christophe Galtier from being shown the exit door in just a few weeks’ time. Before that though, I do see him masterminding the away win and finally getting over the champions line at odds of 8/13.

Monte Carlo System

Next up we go to Roazhon Park and the clash between Rennes and Monaco – one that could have serious repercussions when it comes to who qualifies for Europe. With two fixture rounds to go, the hosts are currently lying sixth in the table and their upcoming opponents are fourth.

Before Saturday’s meeting, it is Monaco who currently possess the only Europa League berth that is earned courtesy of league placing. The Monte-Carlo based outfit are three points clear of the team that is welcoming them and that is a margin they will want to maintain to at the very least.

Victory for Philippe Clement’s men would guarantee a top-five finish and keep them in the box seat when it comes to keeping Lille at bay for fourth. This has all the makings of a rather interesting affair, and my interest is backing at least a point for Monaco at odds of 8/11.

Up Against It

Now we are off to Stade Pierre Mauroy, as Lille play host to Nantes and as mentioned above, Lille are the team that is currently sandwiched between Monaco and Rennes in the Ligue 1 standings. Thankfully for Paulo Fonseca and his players, their opponents are operating in the relegation zone.

The reason why Nantes are languishing in the bottom four is due to their inability to win league matches. Their last 13 attempts have ended in failure, it also recently meant the sacking of former boss Antoine Kombouaré.

Then again, current manager Pierre Aristouy has fared little better, and La Maison Jaune find themselves a point behind Auxerre in 17th. Should results go against Nantes they will be relegated on Saturday, and I believe this one will, as I am backing a win for Lille at odds of 4/9.

More Bad News

While my final pick takes me to the Stadium de Toulouse, as Toulouse play host to Auxerre. The home side have nothing to play for and this is reflected by no win in four and three successive league stalemates.

On the other hand, Auxerre have everything to play for. They may not have won any of their last five, but they did earn a hugely important win over Nantes six fixture rounds ago. Could that 2-1 success be the most pivotal result of all?

Maybe, maybe not and with Toulouse seemingly on the beach, Christophe Pélissier’s men could take full advantage. I mentioned results going against Nantes above. A Lille win and an Auxerre victory to boot would be the nightmare combination and it is finishing my acca at odds of 21/10.

While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 11.49/1 in return.
