Manchester City v Wolves Betting Tips

A victory for City would see Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table reduced to two points at least for a few hours.

While Wolves have been on the slide in recent weeks, they have been busy in the January transfer window, and they clinched their third deal earlier this week when they signed Pablo Sarabia from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

It sees Sarabia reunited with Julen Lopetegui, but Wolves need to rectify their recent form or else they risk being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

But how will this match unfold? We have dived into the markets and picked out a couple of tips for you to tuck into ahead of kick-off.

Manchester City to step things up

In the past few weeks, City have been a rather curious beast. An earlier than anticipated exit from the EFL Cup at the hands of Southampton was followed by a derby defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

And in midweek, City found themselves trailing 2-0 to Tottenham in an error-strewn first half before they got their act together and turned things around in what ended up being a comfortable 4-2 win.

Guardiola has been chopping and changing things of late at the back, and they were greeted by a cacophony of boos at half-time against Tottenham. They can’t afford to take any chances, otherwise, Arsenal could run off into the distance.

Wolves, meanwhile, have found things tough going against City in the league. Indeed, City have won all their past five meetings with Wolves, plundering 16 goals over that period.

Unless City take their foot off the gas, it is hard to make a case for Wolves to take anything on their travels. City should step things up, and they could clinch a 3-1 victory – William Hill has provided odds of 10/1 if you fancy following up on that.

Riyad Mahrez at the double again

Although City fans will have been delighted to see Erling Haaland end a run of three games without a Premier League goal, Riyad Mahrez has been devastating over the past few weeks, and he has sounded a mood of optimism in the camp.

The Algerian winger’s left foot is a wand, and he inspired City’s outstanding comeback against Tottenham with two delicious goals.

He has everything in his locker, and he has netted five times in his past four matches in all competitions, so he could be tough to contain.

When he’s running at players, he can cut in and leave defenders befuddled. I have a hunch he will keep up his remarkable run in front of goal and pop up with a double. Paddy Power has obliged with odds of 11/2 if you are leaning towards the goalscorer markets.
