League points may not be on offer in this encounter, but a win for Rangers may just boost their Scottish Premiership title hopes at the same time.

An Added Boost

Although much of Britain’s football focus will be fixed on Wembley this Sunday, the majority of Glasgow’s will be firmly placed on events at Hampden Park, as Rangers face Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final.

Another chapter in the storied rivalry which is otherwise known as the Old Firm and with the ‘Gers squaring off against the Hoops, the former will look to take possession of the trophy which is currently held by the latter.

With last season’s final being held before Christmas, Ange Postecoglou’s men have held on to Scotland’s secondary cup for 14 months and they will look to extend that tenure with a victory over their nearest rivals.

Something that they failed to do in the last meeting between the pair, as the two sides played out a frenetic 2-2 at Ibrox. An outcome that although is recorded as a draw, may well have felt like a win for Celtic.

Because with Kyogo Furuhashi’s 89th minute equaliser having thwarted Rangers’ hopes of cutting the gap at the top to six points, the gap was maintained at nine on January 2nd. More importantly, it is still nine points to this day.

Whatever Rangers have managed to achieve, Celtic have managed to do just the same since. No matter how hard Michael Beale’s men try to erode the almost insurmountable distance between the two, he and his players’ efforts are seemingly in vain.

Since that draw at the turn of the year, both sides have picked up a maximum 18 points on offer. Add in further success in the Scottish Cup and the momentum being generated in either half of Glasgow, should make for a fascinating showpiece event on Sunday.

Especially as the winner of the tie will also be able to dictate what happens in the final third of the league campaign. A win for Rangers and it may just provide the chink in Celtic’s armour that they are desperately hoping for.

On the other hand, a win for the current league leaders would surely knock the stuffing out of their nearest rivals and bring a second successive Scottish Premiership crown to Celtic Park in just a few weeks.

With that in mind, our latest bet builder is now up for grabs, and it looks like this:

  • Celtic to lift the trophy
  • Kyogo Furuhashi to score anytime
  • Exactly 4 total goals

Rangers vs Celtic Bet Builder

For my latest bet builder offering, the spotlight is being shone on Kyogo Furuhashi and with the Celtic star having already scored 22 goals in all competitions, I am backing the Japanese forward to make it 23 on Sunday.

A goal which I believe will be one of exactly four at Hampden Park and although this would need a 3-1 win for example, it could also mean a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. Should the latter of the two be the case, I have also added Celtic to lift the trophy and all three picks combined are priced at 10/1.
