Bournemouth vs Manchester City

Just when you think Manchester City are about to kick on they stutter again, it’s been another turbulent week for Pep’s side with two 1-1 draws, one coming in the league against Nottingham Forest and one in the Champions League against RB Leipzig. I think we are seeing the end of an era for certain players in the team, it feels as though a big shake up could be coming in the summer with a few of the old guard potentially heading for the door. In the here and now Man City seem to be playing at about 75% each week, it doesn’t feel like we are getting the full City experience, things just aren’t clicking into place. I still expect them to come through this game against Bournemouth with a win, this is probably the perfect game for them right now but they will need to improve their away form which has seen them take just four points from their last four away games. As for Bournemouth they picked up a first win in eight Premier League games last time out away at Wolves. That was a huge result for The Cherries who were in freefall and it has dragged them out of the relegation zone. This is a horrible game for the south-coast side no doubt, but they should take confidence from Nottingham Forest’s draw against The Citizens last weekend and use that as a motivator.

Bet: 15/2 Man City to win, Ilkay Gundogan to have 1+ shots on target and Adam Smith to be carded.

Team News

Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte were unavailable midweek because of illness but may be in line for a return this weekend. John Stones misses out through injury.

Bournemouth have a string of injury problems with David Brooks and Lewis Cook will both miss out because of injury. Jefferson Lerma, Lloyd Kelly, Illia Zabarnyi, Marcus Tavernier, Junior Stanislas and Jordan Zemura are all doubts for the clash.

Match Stats

  • Man City have won all of their last 12 games against Bournemouth.
  • Man City have scored at least two goals in 11 of their last 12 games against Bournemouth.
  • Man City have only taken four points from their last four away games.
  • Adam Smith has picked up 8 yellow cards for Bournemouth this season.
  • Bournemouth have won just one of their last 14 Premier League games.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool

Crystal Palace enter this game on a seven game streak without a win and will be without their star man Wilfried Zaha. As for Liverpool they will be looking to bounce back from an embarrassing 5-2 defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League. The Reds have won their last two Premier League games so Klopp will have to hope that there is some sort of momentum to be had from that, but it’s clear to see that there are cracks in this Liverpool side, compared to the levels that we have seen from them in previous seasons. The Eagles, although six points off the bottom three are still in a very dangerous position, especially with the injury to Zaha who they can ill afford to have out for too many games. They will be all too aware of their poor record against their opponents so it is going to take a big performance and some tactical genius from Patrick Vieira if they are to turn that around I feel, even given Liverpool’s inconsistencies this campaign. The top four suddenly looks within Liverpool’s grasp again after that win against Newcastle and that should be a real incentive for Jurgen Klopp’s side this weekend. With no cups left to play for now realistically Liverpool need to win this game and try and save their season.

Bet: Liverpool to win, Darwin Nunez to score or assist and Doucoure to be carded 9/1

So here is my 3pm acca, it’s a fourfold paying 10/1 with William Hill:

  • Everton vs Aston Villa - Aston Villa or Draw
  • Leeds vs Southampton - Leeds to win
  • Leicester vs Arsenal - Arsenal to win
  • West Ham vs Nottm Forest - Nottm Forest or Draw

Premier League Saturday Tips

Our four-fold pays 10/1

Everton vs Aston Villa - Aston Villa or draw 4/7

Since taking over Sean Dyche has managed an impressive return of six points from three games, picking up wins against Arsenal and Leeds at Goodison Park. They have another home game this weekend so you could be easily led into the thinking that Aston Villa are there for the taking. Well they aren’t and I am going to be backing them to get something from this game after nearly holding Arsenal to a draw last weekend. The Villains have won all of their last three games against The Toffees and Everton have managed just one goal in their last four meetings against Villa. As much as I approve of Sean Dyche’s managerial appointment and the boost that has given the team, I also have respect for Unai Emery who I do feel has improved the team since the sacking of Steven Gerrard. Villa are at this stage on a three game losing streak but they have played Arsenal, Manchester City and Leicester and made a game of all of them, I think they will end their losing streak here.

Leeds vs Southampton - Leeds win EVS

A huge bottom of the table clash between the Mighty Whites and The Saints and we will see who marches the strongest at 3pm at Elland Road. Leeds will have new manager Javi Gracia in the dugout for the first time and they will be hoping that the home fans will be right behind him from the first whistle, which I’m sure they will be. Elland Road can be a pretty intimidating place to visit and the fans will be looking to impose themselves here again knowing what is at risk, will Southampton be able to handle the intensity? I am siding towards a Leeds win with the last three results between the sides at Elland Road ending 1-1, 3-0 and 3-0 again all in the favour of Leeds.

Leicester vs Arsenal - Arsenal win 7/10

Arsenal picked up a vital win in the dying moments against Villa last week and showed they are ready for this title chase. There has been a dip in form but I wouldn’t say there has been a major dip in their levels. As for The Foxes they have taken six points from their last three games, picking up wins against Aston Villa and Tottenham so come into this game with merit. I think that Arsenal will have had a good week of prepping for this match and knowing what’s on the line they will be mentally prepared for this challenge and will have been working on ways to exploit Leicester’s weaknesses, for example their backline which hasn’t kept a clean sheet in eight Premier League appearances, conceding 16 goals during that period. I am going for an Arsenal win at 7/10.

West Ham vs Nottingham Forest - Nottingham Forest or draw 21/20.

The pressure is mounting on David Moyes with The Hammers perishing in the relegation zone. As for Nottingham Forest they were one of the favourites for the drop at the beginning of the season and even a few months ago, but Steve Cooper has managed to turn it around with 15 points taken from their last nine games. Last week’s draw against Manchester City shocked the nation and that must give them a huge boost coming into this fixture against a struggling West Ham side. The Hammers were woeful against Spurs last time out in their 2-0 defeat and showed a real lack of desire as well as quality, something that has infuriated the fans. They will be hoping for a much better showing here this weekend but I still feel that the team looks disjointed and Moyes doesn’t know how to fix it right now. I think there is good value in Nottingham Forest to get something from this game.
