Either side of that we have Bournemouth vs Liverpool in the early game and Crystal Palace vs Manchester City for the evening game and I have picked out bet builders for both of those matches too.
- Bournemouth vs Liverpool Liverpool to win, Philip Billing and Trent Alexander Arnold to have a shot on target. 7/1 with Paddy Power
The two best games of last weekend featured both Bournemouth and Liverpool, pure drama of the highest order and we love it! Both games were potentially season defining not only for their opponents but quite possibly themselves as well with The Cherries going down to The Gunners 3-2 having held a 2-0 after 70 minutes and Liverpool trouncing Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield. I think Liverpool might finally start to come into their own a bit now and I sense a top four place could be on the horizon for them, with Spurs and Newcastle struggling to find wins at the moment. If Bournemouth come with the same zip and energy that they brought to the table against Arsenal last week then we could be in for a good watch. I have a feeling on this occasion though that it will be Liverpool who run away from the trip with three points. Philip Billing scored the fastest goal of the season last weekend and I am backing him to have a shot on target here as well as Liverpool wing-back Trent Alexander Arnold.
Team News
David Brooks, Junior Stanislas and Matias Vina will all miss out through injury. Hamed Traore, Jefferson Lerma, Marcus Tavernier, Lloyd Kelly and Illia Zabarnyi are all doubts for the clash.
Luis Diaz, Thiago and Calvin Ramsay miss out through injury, Arthur, Naby Keita and Joe Gomez are expected to miss out.
Match Stats
- All of the previous 10 encounters between the sides has brought at least three games.
- Liverpool have been winning at both half-time and full-time in all of their last seven encounters.
- Bournemouth haven’t won in any of their last four home games in the league.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City
Manchester City come into this game fresh off the back of a 2-0 win against Newcastle last weekend in the early kick-off. After the unfolding of Arsenal’s win last week Pep knows his team can’t leave anything to chance, Arsenal look like they could be the real deal and they will push this all the way. Thankfully for the Citizens they run into a team with one of the worst forms in the league having failed to win any of their last nine matches, and taking just five points during that period. On top of that City also have a pretty good record at Selhurst Park having kept five clean sheets in their last six away games there, winning on four occasions. I strongly fancy City to come away from London with a win here again this weekend given the current form from the Eagles. I also fancy Ilkay Gundogan to start again in the middle of the park and he is always a good shout for a shot on target. To boost the odds I am going with Marc Guehi to be carded having already picked up seven yellow cards this season, I can see him getting frustrated and overloaded at times against the Sky Blues.
- Manchester City to win, Ilkay Gundogan to have a shot on target and Marc Guehi to be carded pays 10/1 with Paddy Power.
Team News
Nathan Ferguson and Sam Johnstone will miss this clash because of injuries while Cheick Doucoure misses out through suspension. Phil Foden is a doubt for Manchester City,
Match Stats
- Seven of Crystal Palace’s last eight Premier League games have produced under three goals.
- City have kept five clean sheets in their last six away matches against Crystal Palace.
- Crystal Palace have failed to win any of their last nine Premier League matches.
3pm acca
For my 3pm acca I have picked out a 9/1 treble with William Hill, the Tottenham game for me is a big ‘DO NOT TOUCH’ match with what is going on at the club at the moment.
- Everton v Brentford - Brentford to win
- Leeds v Brighton - Brighton to win
- Leicester v Chelsea - BTTS
Everton vs Brentford - Brentford win 7/4
I think Brentford pose great value against Everton this weekend and they boast the longest current unbeaten record in the Premier League (12 games), as well as the 2nd longest unbeaten streak in Europe’s top five leagues, Reims (18) have the longest unbeaten record for anyone interested. The last time these sides met at Goodison Park Brentford came away with a 3-2 win. The Toffees have won just two of their last 14 league games so don’t carry any kind of form into this match. Unfortunately, I don’t think that home advantage will be enough to spur Sean Dyche’s men to a win this weekend.
Leeds vs Brighton - Brighton win evens
No surprises here but I will be going with a Brighton win. Leeds are miles off it at the moment and Brighton are making moves and could even sneak into the top four the way things are going. As much as I love the Mighty Whites we are witnessing a mighty plight with the Yorkshire side having won just one of their last 12 Premier League games. The Seagulls on the other hand are unbeaten in their last five on the road, taking 11 points from a possible 15. They will be in the mood and with no major injury concerns I expect them to be too strong for Leeds at this moment in time.
Leicester vs Chelsea - Both teams to score 8/11
A horrible game to pick a winner from but I do fancy both teams to get on the scoreboard. Three of the last four meetings between the sides have ended with both sides on the scoresheet. It’s been a disappointing season for both teams and they have performed well below expectations, as noticeable in their league positions. Rodgers and Potter are under pressure so will both be hoping for a win to lift morale.
