Tizz Talks: Boxing Day Premier League Tips - 15/1, 14/1, 10/1 & 9/1

The Premier League returns on Boxing Day after an eventful World Cup that sadly didn’t see football come home. With seven games spread out across the day I have picked out four bets, ensuring we have each time slot covered with a bet should you wish to place one.

Having done my research and looked into where squads are at after the break I’m hoping we can make it a merry Christmas with some winning bets!

12:30 - Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur 9/1 bet builder (with Paddy Power)

We get things started with a London derby in the early kick-off, as Antonio Conte’s men make the short journey to The Gtech Community Stadium, where they face Thomas Frank’s Brentford. I have picked out a 9/1 bet builder for the game with some stats so you can see my thought process. Hojbjerg has emerged as a pivotal part of Antonio Conte’s side and will likely be operating in the spine of the team again, and with Bentancur injured there will be extra emphasis on Hojbjerg to grab hold of this game.

He has picked up three goals from midfield this season and I fancy him to have a shot on target here. Another man that’s made it into my slip is someone that’s been in the public eye recently, but is key to everything that Brentford are about.

I am backing Ivan Toney to come out and let the football do the talking and be a nuisance for Spurs who will likely be without World Cup hero Cristian Romero at centre-back and potentially Hugo Lloris after their World Cup efforts.

9/1 Brentford v Tottenham Bet Builder

Sam has put together a bet builder for the early kick off on Boxing Day

Bet: Ivan Toney to score or assist, Ivan Toney to have 2+ shots on target, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to have 1+ shot on target, both teams to score 9/1

Match stats

  • All of Brentford’s last four Premier League games have seen both teams score a goal.
  • 67% of Tottenham’s games have ended with both teams scoring a goal. The 2nd highest in the Premier League.
  • Ivan Toney has 12 goal contributions in 14 games for Brentford this season (10 goals, 2 assists).

Team news

Thomas Frank will be delighted for the Premier League break as it’s meant no fewer than five previously injured players are now available. His squad is looking healthy, and Ivan Toney - despite alleged betting breaches - is still available to feature in this game.

Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero both featured in the World Cup Final and are expected to miss out; so don’t be surprised to see Fraser Forster between the sticks. Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur picked up injuries during the World Cup, so are also likely to miss out.

17:30 - Aston Villa vs Liverpool 14/1 bet builder with Paddy Power

After being dumped out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday, Liverpool will be hoping they can turn their fortunes around when they head to Villa Park. Unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp his side haven’t travelled well at all this season; having picked up just five points from their seven away games. Unai Emery’s side enter this game in good form having won their last two league games against Manchester United and Brighton.

Ruling out the 4-0 loss to Newcastle you would have to say the early signs have been good for Emery with three wins from his first four games. Can the Spaniard drive Villa to a top half finish this season? It wouldn’t surprise me, something wasn’t working with Steven Gerrard at the helm and the Villains desperately needed freshening up. Results are currently going their way but will we see players’ standards drop again?

I think this game is a tough one to call so I won’t be picking the final result, instead I will break it down to the players who I expect will have a role to play in each team’s attack.

20:00 - Arsenal vs West Ham 10/1 bet builder with Paddy Power

Who would have thought that Arsenal would be top of the Premier League table at Christmas? Mikel Arteta’s title challenge continues when they host a West Ham side who have lost four of their last five Premier League games before the break. The Hammers away form doesn’t make for pretty reading either, having taken just one point from their last five away games in the league. Any other hurdles they must overcome? Well, just the small matter of having lost five of their last six games against their counterparts, and not having won at The Emirates since 2015.

The home side will be without summer signing Gabriel Jesus, who is likely to be out until February after picking up an injury in the World Cup; a major blow to The Gunners title bid. As you will see in the team news, both managers have a lot of thinking and rejigging to sort for this clash as a result of the World Cup, and it remains to be seen which team will be affected the most. The form is obviously with Arsenal and I can’t see past them taking another three points here and keeping a clean sheet in the process.

10/1 Arsenal v West Ham Bet Builder

We round the evening off with a double figure priced bet builder from the Emirates

Bet: Arsenal to win, Martin Odegaard to score or assist, Said Benrahma to have a shot on target and Arsenal to keep a clean sheet. (10/1 with Paddy Power)

Match Stats

  • The Gunners have won seven of their last eight Premier League matches.
  • Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in their last three Premier League games.
  • West Ham haven’t won at The Emirates since 2015.
  • Arsenal have scored at least two goals in the last four meetings between the sides.

Team news

Gabriel Jesus is out until February with a knee injury, he is likely to be joined on the sidelines by Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Kurt Zouma and Maxwel Cornet both miss out with injuries. Gianluca Scamacca picked up an ankle injury in a recent friendly with Fulham and is a doubt. Mikhail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell didn’t feature at all during the match so will need to be assessed.

15/1 Premier League Acca - 3pm Start

Sam has combined picked in four 3pm games for a 15/1 acca

So to wrap up my boxing day preview I have picked a 15/1 fourfold for the 3pm games with William Hill. I won’t be going into any detail with this as I fear I’ve already taken up enough of your time and frankly I have some Christmas shopping to do!

But you can be assured that I have looked into each selection to see if there was any reason to put me off placing this bet and there wasn’t. Enjoy your Christmas celebrations whether you are reading this before the big day or after!
