Tizz Talks Premier League: Super Sunday Double Header

Tizz casts his eye over the two live Premier League matches on Sunday

This week’s Super Sunday offering is a double header of action, live on Sky Sports that sees Brighton host strugglers Leicester City in the 2pm serving. Following that, we see Manchester United host Premier League leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford in the 16:30pm game. The Gunners are the only team with a 100% win record in the football league, and the Red Devils have won all of their last three games. I have picked out a bet for each game with Paddy Power and given some reasoning behind my selections - fingers crossed the research pays off for us!

Brighton vs Leicester

Brighton to win, over 5.5 Brighton corners, under 4.5 match cards @ 7/2

Under pressure Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers could probably do without a trip to the Amex this Sunday, with Brighton firing on all cylinders. The hosts currently sit 4th in the league, amassing 10 points from their opening five games. As for Leicester, they find themselves propping the table up in bottom place with just one point gained. Rodgers seems to be talking himself into the sack, much like Scott Parker did last week with some of his recent comments, he isn’t happy with the direction the club is heading.

Brighton won the home fixture last season, and they have shown their quality in both home games this season where they beat Leeds United and took a draw against Newcastle United, a game they could have won on another day. Leicester have lost both of their away fixtures this season and were also poor on the road last season. Graham Potter’s side have had 12 corners in their two home games this season, and I fancy them to have a fair few today. Looking at the cards markets, both teams have had pretty good disciplinary records so far, with just six yellow cards received by each team.

Manchester United v Arsenal

Granit Xhaka and Bruno Fernandes to be carded

I have decided to steer away from trying to pick the outcome of the final result as Manchester United are one of the most unpredictable teams in the league. Something that jumps out at me in this game is the card markets. The last time these two met there were seven cards handed out, six of which came in the 2nd half. Two of the players who went in the referee’s book were Granit Xhaka and Bruno Fernandes, both very emotional players on the field.

In his four Premier League matches officiated this campaign Paul Tierney has dished out 15 yellow cards and two red cards. Fernandes has already received two yellow cards this season and has been a mainstay in the Manchester United starting XI. Granit Xhaka has also played 448 minutes for Mikel Arteta’s side this season so expect to see both players last the majority of the match, if not all of it.
