Tizz Talks - Premier League Tips: 17/2 Acca Wed 4th Jan

Sam is back with a fourfold acca for Wednesday’s Premier League games

Wednesday 4th January Premier League tips

As far as fixture lists go I am not sure we could have picked four more difficult Premier League games to correctly predict. I have had to get a bit creative with my accumulator for today as the stats and form don’t scream of much in particular in quite a few of the games, and it would be more going off a hunch.

So what I have done is looked into alternative markets such as shots on target and corners for some of the bets, but you can be assured they are all in there for good reason and are fully researched. I have managed to pick out a 17/2 acca that I really like the look of with Paddy Power.

Premier League 22/23 Season

7.30pm - Southampton vs Nottingham Forest - James Ward Prowse to have a shot on target 8/11

With sections of Southampton fans having already turned on new manager Nathan Jones you have to fear for The Saints manager if they do not take a win here. With no points from their last five games and currently propping up the rest of the table the picture is really looking bleak at St Mary’s.

With just one win in their last 10 home games in the Premier League I can’t find myself backing them to win against anyone at this moment in time.

On the other hand we come to Nottingham Forest who haven’t scored away from home in their last six Premier League outings. In fact they have managed just one goal from nine games on the road which is about as poor as it gets for a goals return.

So I hope you can appreciate the difficulty I have trying to find a bet that I am confident in regarding goals or a result. Instead I will be backing Southampton talisman James Ward-Prowse to have a shot on target as the first part of my accumulator at 8/11 with Paddy Power.

Match stats

  • The Saints have lost all of their last five Premier League matches.
  • There have been at least three goals in all of Manchester City’s last four games.
  • Both teams have scored in all of Southampton’s last four Premier League games.
  • Southampton have conceded at least four goals in their last four games.
  • Southampton have been behind at both half-time and full-time in all of their last five games in the Premier League.
  • Forest have failed to score in their last six Premier League away games.

7.45pm - Leeds United vs West Ham United - West Ham to have over 4.5 corners 17/20

Elland Road will be an atmosphere to behold when The Mighty Whites host West Ham United on Wednesday night. This fixture has always had a bit of needle from a fan’s perspective and that will hopefully transcend on the pitch and give us a proper winter Premier League clash.

The Hammers faithful are not happy at the moment having lost their last five games and that I expect will only add to the atmosphere if they don’t see their team put in a good performance here. This is not a ground you want to be coming to when you desperately need a result and I don’t expect Jesse Marsch’s side to make it an easy trip.

With Leeds not exactly in the best form themselves there is going to be a lot riding on this game, especially given both sides current positions in the league table. West Ham have taken more corners on the road this season than any other side in the Premier League and that is the angle I will be going down with my bet.

Match stats

  • West Ham have lost their last five Premier League matches.
  • There have been at least two goals scored in all of the last nine meetings between the sides.
  • The Hammers have scored at least two goals in their last five games against Leeds.
  • West Ham have averaged 7.25 corners away from home this season, the highest average in the Premier League.

8pm - Crystal Palace vs Tottenham - Wilfried Zaha to have a shot on target 8/15

We also have a London derby at Selhurst Park between Crystal Palace and Tottenham to look forward to this evening. Spurs fans were left fuming after their 2-0 home defeat against Aston Villa and there are large chunks of the fanbase arguing over whether Conte or Levy are the problem but the players should be shouldering a lot of the blame.

Make no mistake, Spurs are underperforming this season and I can’t recall the last time Heung-min Son had a good game for the Champions League hopefuls. Harry Kane has had a productive campaign with 13 goals already this season, however he has only managed one assist, so we are still not seeing the best version of Harry Kane.

Patrick Vieira should look at this game as a potential three pointer if he can get his team out of the traps quickly. Spurs haven’t won at Selhurst Park since 2018 so this is not going to be an easy three points for them, in fact the last time they played here they suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat.

I think we could be in for an entertaining game with Crystal Palace causing Spurs problems early on and Spurs having to grow into the game, as has been a theme this season. With that in mind I fancy Wilfried Zaha to get a shot on target at 8/15 with Paddy Power, he has already managed 15 shots on target so far this season from 15 appearances.

Match stats

  • Tottenham have conceded at least two goals in all of their last seven Premier League games.
  • There have been at least three goals in the last three meetings between the sides.
  • Spurs haven’t won at Selhurst Park since a 1-0 win in November 2018.
  • Spurs have gone behind in all of their last seven Premier League games.

8pm - Aston Villa vs Wolverhampton Wanderers - Aston Villa to win 10/11

Next up we have a Midlands derby when in form Aston Villa take on strugglers Wolves. Unai Emery’s side come into this game fresh off a 2-0 away win against Tottenham Hotspur, making it three wins in four games for the Villains.

After such an important three points on the road in their last game I am expecting the Villa team to be full of confidence heading into this home clash against their local rivals. A positive for Aston Villa is that they seem to have found their goalscoring boots with eight goals scored in their last four games, an area they had struggled with in their previous 13 games, having scored just 11 goals during that time.

As for Wolves they have lost eight of their last 11 Premier League games and haven’t been able to put together a good run all season. Currently sitting 19th in the league table the visitors could really do with a win against their local rivals. I am not exactly confident of Wolves chances of staying up this season as they lack any sort of goal threat. I think that Villa will have enough to edge this battle.

Match stats

  • Wolves have won the last two meetings between the sides.
  • Aston Villa have won three of their last four Premier League games.
  • Wolves have managed just one win from their last 12 away games in the league.
