Tuesday EFL Cup Acca – 47/1

With Championship, League One, and League Two teams already taking their bow last weekend for the start of the new English football league campaign, the EFL Cup comes into sharp focus this week.

There is a bundle load of first-round fixtures from this domestic cup competition to look forward to, and it has been split into North and South categories to make things easier.

But will there be any upsets? I have scurried around and picked out a quadruple that pays out at a whopping 47/1 with bet365.

EFL Cup Acca Tips

Our Tuesday EFL Cup Acca returns 47/1

Huddersfield v Middlesbrough

After a dismal start to the season, Huddersfield, who crashed to a 3-1 defeat to Plymouth will be looking to eviscerate that scoreline from their memory.

Middlesbrough, similarly, began the campaign in losing fashion as they were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline against Millwall.

Michael Carrick will have been bitterly disappointed as his side fashioned out plenty of chances, but they were outfoxed by Romain Esse 11 minutes from time.

Last season, Huddersfield ran out 4-2 winners at home, but I fancy Middlesbrough to prevail in this all-Championship encounter, and they are at a short 23/20 to do so.

Peterborough v Swindon – Peterborough & BTTS 21/10

Following their shortcomings in the play-offs last term, Peterborough edged out Reading in their opening game of the campaign to collect three points.

Swindon, meanwhile, saw their League Two clash with Colchester called off due to a waterlogged pitch, and it was the first time in EFL history that a season opener was postponed due to inclement weather.

As you can imagine, Swindon will be itching to get some game time under their belts, but it could be a bit of a step up against Posh.

The visitors will want to give a good account of themselves, but Peterborough should see them off comfortably.

Therefore, for my second pick, I have gone with Peterborough to win & BTTS which is available at 21/10.

Stevenage v Watford

Watford only needed 33 seconds to get their season up and running as they laid down an early marker with a 4-0 demolition of QPR at Vicarage Road.

There have been plenty of changes over the past few months for the Hornets, and they will be targeting promotion to the Premier League.

Stevenage, who clinched a 1-0 win away to Northampton, won’t be prepared to roll out the red carpet for the Championship outfit.

But given Watford’s firepower, it could be a tough evening for Stevenage.

An away win & to nil could well be the outcome, which is trading at an eye-catching 11/4.

Derby v Blackpool

It’s fair to say that Derby have had their fair share of financial troubles over the past few years, and a good cup run would help.

The Rams were on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline against Wigan last weekend, and while Blackpool got off to winning ways, the Tangerines could face an early cup exit.

Derby have triumphed in all of their past six clashes with Blackpool, and there have been some emphatic victories in that time too.

I don’t see Blackpool ending their wretched record against Derby, and to round things off, I have gone with the hosts to book a spot in the second round at 10/11.
