One Scalp Already

It was bottom versus top in midweek and Leicester consigned to drop two points at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday.

Two Points Dropped

If the Championship table was based on the form guide of the last six games alone, it would be West Brom at the current summit. 15 points from the last 18 on offer, three of those coming at the expense of Ipswich last weekend.

Victory that was subsequently followed up in midweek and with Carlos Corberan’s men subsequently getting the better of Cardiff in South Wales, it means the Baggies currently find themselves lying fifth in the overall Championship standings.

They have already managed to curtail one outfit that is aiming to not only earn automatic promotion to the Premier League but also win English football’s second tier in the past seven days and now they will look to complete a double of sorts.

Ipswich were disposed of at The Hawthorns last Saturday, as Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys failed to get out of first gear and with the hosts easing their way to a 2-0 victory in front of their own support, this area of the West Midlands was bouncing at the final whistle.

The very same day that Ipswich were slipping up, fellow pacesetters Leicester were making light work of Valerien Ismael’s Watford at the King Power Stadium. A 2-0 win for the Foxes, as they were immune to the sting of the Hornets.

A result that not only put Enzo Maresca’s side three points clear at the top but also gave them the ideal platform in which to build on in midweek – a platform that would see them travel to basement outfit Sheffield Wednesday,

Wednesday, who before kickoff had lost each of their last three league outings looked not only the perfect opposition for Leicester but also for punters who were looking to add one final entry to their midweek accumulator.

Unfortunately for both the table toppers and punters up and down the country, a 92nd minute goal for the hosts at Hillsborough would mean a dramatic draw was salvaged for the blue and white half of Sheffield and the sound of coupons being busted at large.

Now it is Leicester who hope their bid to stay top of the table is not busted and after some topsy turvy results, they make the trip from east to west with just a single point lead over Ipswich and if things go against them this weekend, it will be all change.

But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with Leicester only being 10th in the form table and having failed to win any of their last two on the road, I am going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons and back a West Brom win to nil at odds of 7/2.

Our First Prediction

In addition to this, I am going to go for the narrow home victory. A goalless stalemate at the interval but the hosts nabbing the winner after the break. 0-0 half time, 1-0 full time is a combination that is priced at 10/1.
