West Ham vs Silkeborg Match Preview & Betting Tips

The European action comes thick and fast this week and Thursday serves up another round of Europa Conference League action

Almost There

After winning their first four matches in this season’s Europa Conference League, West Ham are within touching distance of reaching the knockout stage.

Just The Formalities

Although West Ham’s efforts in the Premier League have been far from perfect, the opposite must be said for their antics in the Europa Conference League and with four wins from four, David Moyes’ men find themselves sitting at the top of Group B.

This means their current tally of 12 points will be enough to secure some form of additional European football at the turn of the year. However, an automatic invite to the Round of 16 is not quite secure.

Almost and likely, but still with some work to do, and should they avoid defeat to Silkeborg on Thursday, that safe passage will finally be waved through. Not to mention, they have already got the better of the Danes in this competition.

Last month’s trip to the Silkeborg Stadium was certainly an entertaining one and with the two teams sharing five goals, neutrals will be hoping that another flurry of goals are on offer this Thursday.

Admittedly the same defensive generosity is unlikely to be welcomed by either manager and although the Hammers could take their foot off the pedal, such a luxury may not be afforded until next week.

Finish the task in hand at the London Stadium, and West Ham can afford to ring the changes in Bucharest and when you consider how quickly the football has come about in recent weeks, some rest and recuperation will be welcomed by their biggest names.

However, those biggest names will have to earn that rest and the best way to do that, is by picking up where they left off on Monday. It may have been a rather contentious league win over Bournemouth but it was a win all the same.

Then again, we cannot ignore Silkeborg in the Group B equation, and with them playing host to Anderlecht next Thursday, this tie is shaping up to be a de-facto play-off for the play-off round itself.

Should they manage to catch the Hammers napping, it would only aid their own quest for continued European participation, and therefore, Thursday’s clash in the capital is far from a foregone conclusion.

Which is why I have opted for a dip into the halftime/fulltime market, and with a draw at 45 minutes being followed by a home win at 90, this combination of factors has the rather tempting price of 3/1.

In addition to that, I have also opted for an own goal. There is yet to be one within the confines of Group B and with all streaks having to come to an end at some stage, my 10/1 hunch says it happens on Thursday.
