Although the Reds were seemingly written off as title contenders before the start of the season, they have accrued 10 points from a maximum of 12, and they sit third in the Premier League table.
Wolves, on the other hand, waved goodbye to Matheus Nunes, who joined Manchester City, and it has been a challenging time for Gary O’Neil in the dugout.
Perhaps the biggest concern for Jurgen Klopp’s charges is that his defensive resources will be put to the test. Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt (hamstring), while Virgil van Dijk will serve the second game of his suspension for the red card he received in the 2-1 win away to Newcastle.
But if Wolves are going to steer themselves clear of the relegation zone, they need to start picking up points.
So, how will this one unfold? I have unearthed a couple of betting tips that you should mull over ahead of kick-off.
Honours even at Molineux
There have already been a couple of fark days as far as Wolves are concerned this term, most notably the 4-1 mauling at the hands of Brighton.
However, even in their opening-day defeat to Manchester United, there were some positives to take, as they seemed to slice open the Red Devils at will, but they were unable to apply the finishing touches.
Just four goals tell a story in itself for the Midlands outfit, and facing Liverpool, who were in the ascendancy before the international break, might not be ideal.
But as mentioned, Klopp is short of some bodies, and he may have to reshuffle the pack.
Let’s also not forget that Liverpool had a torrid time when they visited the Black Country last season as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat.
So, we shouldn’t expect a similar outcome this time, but Liverpool will have to dig deep to keep their unbeaten record intact.
For my first pick, I am plumping on the draw, which is available at an enticing 4/1 with Paddy Power.
Luis Diaz to perform rescue act
This could well be a topsy-turvy affair, and Wolves won’t want to roll out the red carpet for the visitors.
Liverpool could well be required to do plenty of defending especially if Wolves toss balls into the box.
At the other end, the Reds will be looking to attack with menace, and Luis Diaz will want to orchestrate things.
With two goals to his name, the Colombian forward will be eager to add to his tally and get on the end of things.
I went for a draw for my first pick, and for my second, I think Diaz could help rescue a point for the Merseysiders.
But to be more precise, I like the look of the special served up by William Hill, which is pricing Diaz at 12/1 to net inside the six-yard box if you fancy following up on that.
