- Race Day - Sunday, 1pm
The historic and prestigious British Grand Prix takes place at Silverstone on Sunday 03 July, with practice and qualifying scheduled for the Friday and Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, the Dutch driver Max Verstappen is the market leader with the major online bookmakers to win the British Grand Prix.
Silverstone is renowned as one of the fastest tracks in Motorsport, and presents drivers with some of the biggest challenges anywhere in the F1 calendar in dealing with famous corners such as Maggots, Becketts and Abbey. The circuit is 5.891 km long circuit and features a total of 18 turns, with the race taking place over 52 laps.
Verstappen is currently on offer at odds of 1/1 with BetFred to win the race and, having won six of nine races this season and set the lap record for Silverstone at 1:27.097 in 2020, he looks a more than worthy favourite.

Max Verstappen goes into the race having extended his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship to 46 points following his victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal last time out.
His nearest challenger, Sergio Perez, was forced to retire in Canada, while Charles Leclerc finished a creditable fifth after having to take a grid penalty and start from the back row.
Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Perez, is available at seemingly appealing odds of 12/1 with SpreadEx. However, the Mexican is in a race to be fit for Silverstone having driven in the Canadian GP (for nine laps prior to mechanical issues forced his retirement) unaware that he had injured his neck in a crash during qualifying. It’s a major risk backing Perez under those circumstances.
Give Charles the Swerve
After a strong start to the season, mechanical issues continue to hamper Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc’s title bid, so he’s also probably one to avoid in backing for the race winner at 9/4 with Betfair.
However, Leclerc has claimed pole position in six of this season’s races, so could be worth a punt to do so again at 1/1 with BetVictor.

Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix on a record eight occasions and he will have been encouraged with his third-place finish in Canada (finishing a mere seven seconds behind Verstappen). That was his first podium finish of the season.
It does appear that Mercedes are finally getting their act together this season, and are now approaching the stage where they can compete on almost level terms with Red Bull and Ferrari.
With Hamilton’s improving form and the increasing reliability of his car, coupled with concerns surrounding some of his leading rivals, there’s enough to suggest that Hamilton and Mercedes can secure another podium finish at Silverstone at odds of 2/1 with bet365.
