Frank Lampard To Mark 100th England Cap With A Goal
Former England international Matt Le Tissier tips Frank Lampard to mark his 100th England by scoring against Ukraine in Kiev on Tuesday.
Frank Lampard will reach a rare milestone for England tonight when he becomes the eighth player to earn 100 caps, joining team mates Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole who will equal Billy Wright’s record of 105 caps for the Three Lions.
The Chelsea midfielder made his England debut in October 1999 since when he has scored 29 times for his country and even at the age of 35, is still making a telling contribution. He has played in four matches in World Cup qualifying Group H, scoring four goals including a late penalty to earn a point when Ukraine visited Wembley 12 months ago.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “Ukraine almost caused a huge upset at Wembley when Frank Lampard saved the day with a late penalty to scrape a 1-1 draw. But, England have only lost one friendly (against Sweden) and are unbeaten in all competitive matches since Italy knocked them out of Euro 2012 on penalties.
I can’t see Roy Hodgson’s men losing this one and would have plumped for England-Draw on the Double Chance but at around 1/2 the price is too short. So, I’ll go for Lampard to hit the headlines with a goal at anytime in the game, 9/2 at BetVictor.”
England manager Roy Hodgson is forced into making one change to the team that beat Moldova 4-0 at Wembley on Friday. James Milner is expected to replace suspended striker Danny Welbeck after being singled out for praise in Hodgson’s post-match interview.
