Smart Champion to Place (3 Places) in the 1.50pm
Proven stamina is an absolute must for the first race of the day at Goodwood.
It takes place over 2m4½f and only horses who can be relied upon to get the trip should be backed by punters.
Smart Champion has plenty of good form over races at 2m and over, including coming third in this race last year.
David Simcock’s charge is 6lb lower in the ratings this time around and having snuck in right at the bottom of the weights he can sneak another place at 15/8 with Virgin Bet.
Maydanny to Place (3 Places) in the 3.00pm
The testing ground on the first day of Glorious Goodwood forced Mark Johnston’s hand with regards to Maydanny.
He was pulled out of the opening race of the meeting but retained his place in the Golden Mile Handicap and that could prove to be a blessing in disguise.
The reliable four-year-old has a nice draw near to the rails and can take advantage by earning a place at 15/8 with Virgin Bet.
Battaash to Win the 3.35pm
The sprinters take to the stage in Friday’s feature, the King George Qatar Stakes.
It’s a stage that Battaash knows best of all with the seven-year-old going for a remarkable fifth race win in a row.
There are a few chinks the armour after his defeat at Ascot last time out and Dragon Symbol is a big threat but the ground drying out should ensure that Battaash can retain his crown at 7/4 with Virgin Bet.
