The Best Horse Racing Tips for Ascot & York on Friday

Plenty of top quality Flat Horse Racing action on both Friday afternoon and evening, in particular from the cards at Ascot and York. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from the Berkshire track (2.30pm and 3.00pm) and one contest taking place on the Knavesmire (8.00pm).

Our Tip for the 2.30pm at Ascot:

All ten runners can be given a chance of victory in this two mile stamina test, including the only three-year-old in the race Star Caliber and Speedo Boy, a narrow runner-up on his last two starts. However, despite top weight of 10st, Notation and jockey Ryan Moore may prove the each-way value of the race.

The daughter of Poet’s Voice likes nothing better than to dictate the race from the front and should the Mark Johnston-trained filly be allowed a soft lead, Notation could take plenty of pegging back up the short Ascot straight.

Our Tip for the 3.00pm at Ascot:

Indigo Girl, runner-up in last season’s bet365 Fillies’ Mile to Pretty Gorgeous, and one place in front of subsequent Qipco 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth, looks sure to start a warm favourite for this one mile Group 3 contest on her seasonal reappearance.

The mount of Frankie Dettori, while greatly respected, may have to play second fiddle on this occasion to a race-fit Lights On who created a big impression when storming home by ten lengths in a Listed race at Pontefract earlier this month.

The daughter of Siyouni has won three of her four starts this season and can be forgiven a below-par effort at Royal Ascot when drawn in the car park behind winner Lola Showgirl. Third in that race was Waliyak from the Roger Varian stable who could do no better than finish an 11 length third to Lights On when the pair met again three weeks later.

The four-year-old filly is the type trainer Sir Michael Stoute excels with and the selection can continue her progression in the hands of jockey Ryan Moore.

Our Tip for the 8.00pm at York:

Sent off a well-backed 5/6 favourite on his most recent start at Redcar in April, the William Haggas-trained Kettle Hill could do no better than finish a four and a half length sixth behind winner and fellow rival Defence Treaty.

The son of Gleneagles, after being slowly away, failed to settle in the hands of Daniel Tudhope, leading to the lightly-raced gelding being unable to find any extra inside the final furlong at the north-east track.

That was just the fourth career start for Kettle Hill, who had won his two previous outings at Windsor and Wolverhampton. The mount of Tom Marquand can prove himself much better than that Redcar run would indicate by taking this one mile handicap under conditions which should suit off a potentially lenient mark of 85.

Chichester, from the stable of Keith Dalgleish, has been in great form this season over distances ranging from a mile to an extended 1m 2f and can prove the main danger to the selection.
