Horse Racing on Monday afternoon comes from the meetings at Ayr and Nottingham on the Flat and Worcester over the Jumps. We will go to the Scottish track for today’s Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions starting with the 7f Class 5 handicap at 2.45pm.
The main race of the afternoon comes at 3.20pm with a 6f sprint handicap. We will supply a Horse Racing tip for this Class 3 contest along with the final race on the card at 4.25pm, a seven-runner handicap run over the minimum trip.
Our Tip for the 2.45pm at Ayr:
The Mark Johnston-trained Prospect finally got his head in front at the 14th attempt when winning narrowly on his most recent start at Leicester. The mount of Franny Norton has a decent chance of following up on a mark just 2lb higher. But the each-way value of the race may lie with course and distance winner Chookie Dunedin.
The six-year-old son of Epaulette has run many of his best races at the track, winning here on his racecourse debut back in 2017, along with several near misses including when going down by three quarters of a length in a much better race last September.
The mount of 3lb claimer Billy Garritty is often slowly away but with a decent start and off a mark only 1lb higher than when winning at Wetherby back in April should make the frame at the very least.
Our Tip for the 3.20pm at Ayr:
The winner of four of his first six starts as a juvenile, the Michael Dods-trained Troubador finished his two-year-old career with second places in valuable contests at York and Redcar.
Off an opening mark of 101, the Poet’s Voice gelding found life tough last season, a second place at Pontefract the nearest the grey came to troubling the judge in 2020.
Now rated 90, and following an encouraging fourth at York last month, Paul Mulrennan’s mount, despite having to shoulder top weight in this Class 3 handicap, is fancied to get back to winning ways for the first time since taking a Thirsk nursery two years ago.
Music Society and Look Out Louis both posted victories last time and will have their supporters. But the main danger to Troubador may come in the shape of the mare Pearl Of Qatar, who’s course form reads 3-1-1, and is only 2lb higher than when winning here last month.
Our Tip for the 4.25pm at Ayr:
Following a couple of moderate runs at Thirsk in May, the Michael Dods-trained John Kirkup finally showed something like his form of last season when finding only the Irish-trained Pretty Boy Floyd too good at Haydock later that month.
The Assertive gelding posted some excellent efforts in 2020, including victories at Ayr and Pontefract. The mount of Connor Beasley also ran well in defeat on the course including when fourth, beaten less than two lengths, in the Bronze Cup at the Western Meeting.
Back down to a mark of 81, the six-year-old looks ready to open his account for the season at the main expense of top weight Lomu and recent course and distance winner Be Proud.
