The Best Horse Racing Tips from Ayr on Wednesday

Horse Racing tips from the Flat meeting at Ayr on Wednesday afternoon
At 6/1 a 10£ bet would return 70£

The Scottish racecourse at Ayr stages the best Flat action in Britain on Wednesday afternoon. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for three of the races on the card.

The day’s highlight comes at 3.20pm with the Listed Rothesay Stakes. We will supply a Horse Racing tip for this 1m 2f contest together with an extended 7f Class 5 handicap at 3.50pm and at 4.20pm a Class 4 handicap run over the minimum trip.

Our Tip for the 3.20pm at Ayr:

Three of these, Black Lotus, A La Voile and Arriviste finished third, fourth and fifth respectively in the Nottinghamshire Oaks last month and it would be no surprise to see the last named come on top this time.

Anastarsia and Bharani Star were both highly tried last season and should appreciate the drop in class. But Irish trainer Jessica Harrington is always to be respected when she sends her runners across the Irish sea and, despite a mark of only 81, her Astadash should not be underestimated.

The daughter of Zoffany left trainer Kevin Prendagast last month and on her first run for Harrington in a Dundalk handicap, showed plenty of promise in finishing a close fourth under top weight of 10st. While this is a step up in class for the filly, the mount of Cam Hardie is capable of surprising some higher rated rivals.

Our Tip for the 3.50pm at Ayr:

Top weight Zumurud won off today’s mark of 72 at Catterick last week and once again has the services to talented claimer Ella McCain. This looks a more competitive race however and the six-year-old may find one or two too good on this occasion.

Gigi’s Beach has been in good form on the all-weather of late and should go well if transferring that form to turf. While the reverse is true of Global Humor who failed to win on his last eight starts on an artificial surface prior to running a fine second here last month before winning at Hamilton last Friday.

The one to beat however is the Keith Dalgleish-trained Caballero who has gone close on his last two starts, going down by half a length on both occasions over today’s course and distance. Joe Fanning’s mount looks attractively weighted at the moment off a mark of 64, 18lb lower than when last successful, at Newmarket in October 2018.

Our Tip for the 4.20pm at Ayr:

Having his first run on turf and over the minimum trip this season, the Archie Watson-trained Secret Handsheikh makes plenty of appeal in the hands of Paul Mulrennan.

The Mayson gelding was thought good enough to run in a valuable sales race at the Curragh last September and ran better than his finishing position of 19th would suggest.

Since then the three-year-old has been campaigned on the all-weather, winning twice at Southwell before failing to beat a rival in a classy handicap at Lingfield last time. Secret Handsheikh went off too quickly in front on that occasion and if ridden more conservatively over this furlong shorter trip should go close.

The in-form Ready Freddie Go and the Kark Burke-trained Jacattack look the two main dangers.
