The Best Horse Racing Tips for Carlisle and Redcar on Monday

Horse Racing tips for the meetings at Carlisle and Redcar on Monday afternoon
At 9/2 a 10£ bet would return 55£

The northern meetings at Carlisle and Redcar on Monday afternoon will be the first racecourses to host racegoers for some time. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from the Cumbrian track and one from the north-east venue.

At Carlisle we will supply Horse Racing tips for the 5f Blackwell Handicap at 1.35pm, and at 2.45pm the one mile Thursby Handicap. While at Redcar our Horse Racing tip comes in the Class 3 five furlong handicap at 4.15pm.

Our Tip for the 1.35pm at Carlisle:

A wide-open Class 5 sprint handicap in which it could pay to forgive a below-par recent effort from the Paul Midgley-trained James Watt. The son of Morpheus had previously been in good form when losing out narrowly in two races over the minimum trip at Newcastle, behind Dazzling Des on both occasions.

The five-year-old won his first two starts, both on turf in 2018, but has failed to trouble the judge in 26 subsequent attempts. The mount of Graham Lee has gone close on a number of occasions however and off a lowly mark of 74 is more than capable of winning a race of this nature.

Marvel and Ventura Flame have both been running well of late and are respected, as is Tanasoq who can prove the best of those at a bigger price.

Our Tip for the 2.45pm at Carlisle:

The hat-trick-seeking Hundred Isles is the most unexposed runner in this one mile handicap. This will only be the four-year-old’s third start of turf, and sixth in all. The mount of Joe Fanning could easily be still ahead of the handicapper but the horse who makes most appeal is Soaring Star from the Kevin Ryan stable.

The Starspangledbanner gelding wasn’t beaten far when finishing fifth on his first start on an all-weather surface at Southwell last month and should appreciate the return to turf for his third run of the season.

An easy winner of a novice stakes at Ayr last August, the mount of Kevin Stott has run well on all five subsequent starts, including when beating all bar Flying Pursuit in a competitive Doncaster handicap on his final run of 2020.

It can only be a matter of time before the consistent performer gets his head in front again and on his first try over this trip, is expected to go close.

Our Tip for the 4.15pm at Redcar:

Returning to the minimum trip for the first time in almost two years, the Julie Camacho-trained Look Out Louis is fancied to follow-up his victory at Wetherby last month when racing over half a furlong further.

The son of Harbour Watch shows plenty of early pace, having made most of the running to win at both Newcastle at Wetherby in four starts since joining his current handler from Tim Easterby last October.

Those two wins came off marks of 71 and 78, so with a revised rating of just 79 it would be no surprise to see the mount of Cam Hardie make a bold bid from the front in this 8-runner Class 3 handicap.

The biggest danger to the selection could come in the shape of Savalas who ran well when third on his first start for Geoffrey Harker at Thirsk earlier this month and should improve for the run.
