The Best Horse Racing Tips for Catterick and Windsor on Monday

Following rain over the weekend, the ground is sure to be testing for Catterick’s eight-race card on Monday afternoon. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from the Yorkshire track, those taking place at 3.25pm and 5.00pm.

At Windsor’s evening meeting, the feature race is the Racing Welfare Royal Windsor Stakes at 6.00pm. We will supply a Horse Racing tip for this one mile Listed contest which has attracted a field of six runners.

Our Tip for the 3.25pm at Catterick:

The veteran 12-year-old B Fifty Two won twice on the course last season, both on heavy ground, so the mount of Jane Elliott has to be respected. However, the Marjorie Fife-trained gelding looks high enough in the weights now and may struggle off his current mark of 62.

Paddy Power, following 16 defeats finally got his head in front when coming out on top in a tight finish at Ayr last month and could easily follow up in a weak contest. The horse who makes the most appeal however, is the John Quinn-trained Captain Jameson.

The six-year-old has yet to finish outside of the first four in four visits to Catterick and has plenty of form on soft ground. The mount of Jason Heart should come on for his run at Ayr last month and off a 16lb lower mark than when beaten just three quarters of a length over course and distance in October 2019, looks sure to go close.

Our Tip for the 5.00pm at Catterick:

On his third start for trainer Mark Walford, the six-year-old Zumurud looks poised to open his account for his new handler with conditions to suit.

The mount of talented claimer Ella McCain was in fine form in 2019, finishing runner-up on two occasions, along with a victory here in a Class 4 handicap off a 7lb higher mark.

The grey son of Zebedee’s best effort last year was when finishing fifth, again at Catterick, going down by just over a length in a 12-runner handicap, despite being short of room in the closing stages.

The gelding encounters give in the ground for the first time this season, and off a career-low mark of 72, has an excellent chance of troubling the judge for the first time in almost two years.

Top weight King Of Tonga, Tathmeen and Nordic Fire are others to consider.

Our Tip for the 6.30pm at Windsor:

A late withdrawal from a 7f handicap at Chester on Friday, the Richard Hughes-trained Brentford Hope has been rerouted to this more valuable Listed race. And with the rain that has fallen over most of the country over the weekend, the going should prove perfect for the mount of Jamie Spencer, who relishes plenty of give underfoot.

The four-year-old son of Camelot has always been held in high regard and ended last season with a supremely easy victory on heavy ground at Haydock under today’s rider last October.

That drop back to a mile seemed ideal for the gelding, so under what could prove similar conditions, Brentford Hope is fancied to continue his progress before possibly stepping up to Groupo 3 company in the near future.

With a mark of 110, Stormy Antarctic, from the Ed Walker stable, is the highest rated of the six runners. Following his second place in a Listed race at Kempton in March, the eight-year-old looks the main danger to the selection.
