After some tremendous top class performances on the Knavesmire at York, this week’s Horse Racing action goes down a notch or two, in particular over the first few days. The most interesting card on Monday is the one at Ripon and we will go to the North Yorkshire track for today’s Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions.
The three races we will supply Horse Racing tips for start with a 5f sprint handicap at 5.55pm followed by a Class 4 two mile handicap at 6.25pm and finally at 6.55pm a one mile 11-runner handicap.
Our Tip for the 5.55pm at Ripon:
Last successful in a Catterick handicap over this trip in July 2020 off a mark of 78, the Antony Brittain-trained Canford Bay has now been dropped some 12lb by the handicapper and the seven-year-old looks ready to record a ninth career victory in what looks a moderate contest.
Cam Hardie’s mount, a dual course and distance winner in 2019, can be a bit keen on occasions but a reproduction of his close fourth at Chester last month should be good enough to beat stablemate Qaaraat and Buniann from the Paul Midgley stable who look the two main dangers.
Our Tip for the 6.25pm at Ripon:
Fifth and twelfth respectively in the Melbourne Cup’s of 2017 and 2018, along with several other creditable performances in some of the season’s top staying handicaps, the veteran 10-year-old Nakeeta is clearly not the force of old. But now running off a mark of 68 (108 at his peak) Iain Jardine’s charge should not be underestimated in this 2m handicap following some decent efforts of late.
Fourth in a better race than this at York last month, Andrew Mullen’s mount meets the runner-up there Ghadbbaan on 5lb better terms yet is available at double the price.
On his most recent start Nakeeta finished a five and a quarter length seventh at Ripon over 1m 6f when failing to get the clearest of runs towards the end of the race. An extra two furlongs plus a bit more luck in running could put this popular Sixties Icon gelding bang in the mix. Dance To Paris and Land Of Winter are the others to consider.
Our Tip for the 6.55pm at Ripon:
A tight one mile handicap but it is the two southern raiders, Mars Landing and Malhoob who are of most interest. The latter, an easy winner of a minor contest at Thirsk in April, probably found the step-up to 1m 2f against him at Newcastle a month later when failing to beat a single rival.
The return to this shorter trip should help Roger Varian’s unexposed contender. But the one to beat is the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Mars Landing who has yet to finish out of the frame in his last seven starts.
The mount of Richard Kingscote got off the mark with a game victory in a Leicester handicap back in April (Thursday’s York winner Cruyff Turn back in sixth) and while beaten in a match at Windsor earlier this month, the Dark Angel gelding should not be judged on that tactical affair and can prove too good for a field of exposed handicappers.
