The Best Horse Racing Tips for Fakenham & Chepstow on Monday

Jump racing on Monday afternoon comes from the meetings at Fakenham and Chepstow. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from the Norfolk racecourse and one from the home of the Welsh Grand National.

Our two Horse Racing tips from Fakenham come in the races taking place at 2.50pm and 3.20pm. While over at Chepstow today’s each-way longshot runs in the finale at 4.15pm.

“Tip of the Day” – Somekindofstar – 3.20pm Fakenham

Dropping back in trip to two mile for the first time could make Jack Quinlan’s mount hard to beat on a course and with conditions that should suit.

Avithos (Next Best) – 2.50pm Fakenham

At the age of 12 and on her 35th career start, this will be just the second time the Mark Gillard-trained Avithos will have paid a visit to the Norfolk racecourse, the first resulting in a comfortable six and a half length victory 12 months ago.

The daughter of Kayf Tara went on to follow up at Sedgefield four weeks later on her final start of last season. The mount of 3lb claimer Fergus Gillard has taken a few runs to find that level of form since returning in November. But after finishing a creditable fifth at Lingfield on her most recent start, the mare can prove the value in receipt of weight from most of her rivals.

The main danger is likely to come in the shape of joint top weight Midnight Mary who will appreciate this better ground after failing to handle heavy going at Warwick last time.

Somekindofstar (NAP) – 3.20pm Fakenham

Despite reaching the age of nine, this will be the first time the Lucy Wadham-trained Somekindofstar has been tried over the minimum trip of two miles, the gelding’s two previous victories coming over 2m 3f and 2m 4f.

The son of Getaway was just run out of it on his reappearance over an extended 2m 5f at Fontwell last month after holding a clear lead jumping the third-last. The mount of Jack Quinlan again weakened in the closing stages on heavy ground at Warwick on his most recent start and should appreciate this shorter trip along with the forecast good to soft conditions.

Main market rival is Doukarov from the Sean Curren stable. But a bigger danger to Somekindofstar may be top weight Fairway Freddie who beat that horse by over 20 lengths at Plumpton last April and finds himself only 7lb worse off at the weights.

Beau Haze (Longshot) – 4.15pm Chepstow

The Phillip Dando-trained Beau Haze is back over a more suitable trip in this extended 2m 3f Class 5 handicap hurdle after patently failing to see out the three mile one and a half furlong of his most recent start at Hereford earlier this month.

The nine-year-old gelding’s previous form entitles the mount of 3lb claimer Conor Ring to go close in this modest contest, especially off a mark 3lb lower than when winning at Ffos Las last May.

The son of Black Sam Bellamy performed well on his first three starts of the current campaign before his stamina gave out last time and is fancied to make the frame at the very least. After The Fox and easy Warwick scorer Shutthegate are the others to consider.
