The Best Horse Racing Tips for Newmarket & Newcastle

Thursday is the first of Newcastle’s popular three-day Northumberland Plate meeting. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races on the card, the Class 2 William Hill Seaton Delaval Handicap at 3.10pm along with a 7f handicap, the penultimate race of the afternoon at 4.55pm.

On the same afternoon Newmarket stages a competitive card, the highlight being the Class 2 Join The Great Racing Welfare Cycle Handicap at 4.10pm. We will also supply a Horse Racing tip for this 7f contest.

Our Tip for the 3.10pm at Newcastle:

Declared to run in Wednesday’s Carlisle Bell, the Keith Dalgleish-trained Chichester would have a major chance of landing this Class 2 handicap should connections decide to bypass the Cumbrian track and head to Gosforth Park instead.

In expectation that the four-year-old will be declared a non-runner, reducing the field to seven runners, the horse to take advantage could be the Ivan Furtado-trained Eagleway.

The ex French gelding has plenty of experience on an all-weather surface, having run ten times including a victory at Deauville in 2019. The son of Sakhee’s Secret was thrown in at the deep end for his British debut when contesting the 27-runner Victoria Cup at Ascot last month.

In the hands of Jane Elliott, the 80/1 chance found only River Nymph a half length too good but came out of the race with plenty of credit. Off a 4lb higher mark and in a much easier contest, the five-year-old looks the one they all have to beat.

Our Tip for the 4.10pm at Newmarket:

The two juvenile runs of the William Haggas-trained Ametist last year could hardly have worked out much better. A promising third at Yarmouth on his debut behind subsequent Lincoln winner Haqeeqy, the son of Dutch Art then went on to beat last week’s Kensington Palace Stakes all-the-way scorer Lola Showgirl.

After landing the odds in a minor contest at Wetherby in April, the gelding was sent off a warm favourite for his handicap debut at Newmarket last month. Despite only scraping home by a nose, Ametist showed plenty of courage in rallying when headed and with the fourth horse, Riot, going on to finish a fine third at Royal Ascot last week the form looks solid.

Tom Marquand’s mount has the potential to be much better than his current mark of 90 and should continue his winning streak at the main expense of Kimifive and Dulas.

Our Tip for the 4.55pm at Newcastle:

Unexposed southern raider Military Man should take plenty of beating in this Class 5 three-year-old seven furlong handicap on just his fifth start to date and off what may prove to be a lenient mark of 76.

The Roger Varian-trained gelding ran well in a nursery on the course last November, finishing a close third in the hands of today’s rider Jack Mitchell. Back in fourth place, carrying the same weight, was the now 85-rated Albert Camus.

The son of Gleneagles made a pleasing reappearance when third again, this time on turf at Nottingham earlier this month. And in what looks a fairly moderate contest, Military Man should prove too good for his nine rivals, the best of which may be Paul Hanagan’s mount Shaykhoon.
