The Best Horse Racing Tips for Newmarket & York on Friday

Along with the second day of Newmarket’s July meeting, York and Ascot also provide some decent Flat action. We will supply Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from headquarters together with a Horse Racing tip for the feature race on the Knavesmire, the six furlong Group 3 Summer Stakes at 2.40pm.

The highlight on Newmarket’s card is the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at 3.35pm. We will provide a Horse Racing tip for this one mile contest for fillies and mare along with the earlier 1m 2f bet365 Heritage Handicap at 1.50pm.

Our Tip for the 1.50pm at Newmarket:

Only 10 runners for this 1m 2f three-year-old handicap but it’s hard to rule anything out completely. Foxes Tales, winner of the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot will be fancied by many to follow up.

The William Haggas-trained Dubai Honour also put up an excellent effort at the royal meeting, finishing fourth of 29 in the one mile Britannia Stakes. Both horses have obvious claims, along with Inigo Jones and King Of Clubs. But King Frankel, from the Mark Johnston stable, is fancied to get back to winning ways facing what could prove his optimum conditions.

After winning his maiden at Pontefract in April by 32 lengths, the son of Frankel came up against a potential Group horse when second to Bay Bridge in the London Gold Cup at Newbury, the pair finishing clear of their rivals. Slowly away on his next start at Epsom on Derby Day, the mount of Ben Curtis just failed to reel-in the winner Solent Gateway and on the back of that run was sent off the 4/1 favourite when fourth behind Foxes Tales at Royal Ascot.

King Frankel did not seem happy on the soft ground at Ascot, so with the going at headquarters expected to ride good to firm and with a 9lb pull in the weights with Andrew Balding’s charge, the selection looks sure to go close.

Our Tip for the 2.40pm at York:

The Charlie Fellowes-trained Vadream deserves to be favourite for this Group 3 contest following three excellent runs this season, including a sixth place in the Qipco 1000 Guineas and more recently when third of 18, beaten two lengths, in Royal Ascot’s Jersey Stakes.

The filly should have no trouble with the expected soft conditions but more of a problem could prove the drop back in trip to six furlongs. That distance holds no fears for Dandalla, from the Karl Burke stable, who looked as if she was approaching her best juvenile form when fourth in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup on her most recent start and is taken to come out on top.

The Dandy Man filly was an impressive six length winner of last year’s Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot with subsequent Qipco 1000 Guineas heroine Mother Earth back in third place. After following up in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket, the mount of Clifford Lee has taken her time to recover that level of form but looked on her way back with that fine effort at the royal meeting last time.

Our Tip for the 3.35pm at Newmarket:

This has to go down as one of the best renewals of this one mile contest for fillies and mares since it attained Group 1 status in 2004. Of the 13 runners we have the first two horses home in both the Qipco 1000 Guineas and Royal Ascot’s Coronation Stakes.

The other nine competitors are all of a very high standard and it could be a case of which contender handles the conditions best on the day. That horse could well be Ballydoyle’s Classic winner Mother Earth who should appreciate the return to ground currently described as good to firm.

There was no fluke about the daughter of Zoffany’s victory at headquarters (Saffron Beach and Alcohol Free behind) since when the mount of Ryan Moore has performed creditably at Longchamp and Ascot on ground that was far from ideal.

Providing any significant rain stays away from the area, Mother Earth can repeat her Classic-winning performance in a race to savour.
