The Best Horse Racing Tips for Catterick & Sandown on Wednesday

Flat turf Horse Racing in Britain has the scene to itself on Wednesday with the meetings at Catterick, Bath and Lingfield in the afternoon and Leicester and Sandown in the evening.

We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for the 3.50pm race from Catterick, and at Sandown the final two events of the evening at 8.10pm and 8.45pm.

Our Tip for the 3.50pm at Catterick:

This moderate contest provides the Wilf Storey-trained Tarnhelm with a good opportunity to record a fourth career victory, the six-year-old’s first since taking a one mile handicap at Thirsk last June.

Since then the daughter of Helmet has been tried over distances ranging from 7f to an extended mile and a half. Despite being slowly away on several occasions, the mount of Jason Hart (back in the saddle for the first time since the mare’s two-year-old days) has only been beaten an aggregate of ten and a half lengths on her last four starts.

Providing Tarnhelm does not give her rivals too much of a head start at the North Yorkshire venue, the selection is more than capable of winning this off a mark of 46. Course and distance winner Go On Gal and Nine Elms look the main dangers.

Our Tip for the 8.10pm at Sandown:

The three to concentrate on for this interesting three-year-old handicap are Stay Well, Remedium and Sea Sylph. Hughie Morrison’s charge, the mount of Oisin Murphy, should appreciate this good to firm ground after failing to show his best form at Goodwood and Ascot under softer conditions.

The Richard Hannon-trained Remedium has gone close on all three starts this season and the winner’s enclosure can not be far away for Sean Levey’s mount. But this can go to the unexposed Sea Sylph from the William Haggas stable who looks on an attractive mark of 83 for the fillies’ first run in a handicap.

The daughter of Sea The Stars still looks a work in progress but has shown enough in three runs to date to suggest Tom Marquand’s mount will be rated much higher by the end of the season.

Our Tip for the 8.45pm at Sandown:

Just as our selection, Sea Sylph in the previous race, may prove one step ahead of the handicapper, the same remark could easily apply to the James Ferguson-trained Snowalot who, on just his sixth start to date, runs off a mark of just 78 (including a 5lb penalty) after running out an impressive winner at Salisbury recently.

The Camelot gelding looks sure to have a revised rating somewhere in the low 80’s, so connections are taking the wise option of striking while the iron is hot. With the trip and the ground unlikely to hold any fears for the mount of Daniel Muscutt, Snowalot should prove too good for main rivals Dancing Harry and Ravens Ark.
