The Best Horse Racing Tips for Sandown & Worcester on Thursday

Sandown’s Listed Star Stakes is the feature race on the seven-race card at the Esher track on Thursday afternoon. We will provide a Horse Racing tip, preview and prediction for this seven furlong contest for juveniles, due to take place at 2.10pm.

At Worcester’s jumps meeting, our each-way value bet of the day comes in the 2m 7f handicap chase at 1.45pm, while our other Horse Racing tip follows in the 2m handicap hurdle at 2.20pm.

Our Tip for the 1.45pm at Worcester:

A disappointing run at Perth earlier this month is likely to be represented in the odds available about the Neil Mulholland-trained Fingerontheswitch for this 2m 7f handicap chase.

While the 11-year-old gelding will need to perform much better if the mount of Harry Reed is to go close here, the Beneficial gelding is now on a very attractive mark of 119 and is more than capable of holding his own at this moderate level.

Beaten half a length in last year’s Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster (off 132), the selection has been set some impossible tasks since then, including when contesting the 2020 Kim Muir, Kempton’s Close Brothers Handicap Chase back in February, before finishing 13th in the Ultima at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

In a race which shouldn’t take a great deal of winning, Fingerontheswitch, a winner over course and distance two years ago as well as over hurdles in 2015, can prove a value bet to make the frame at the very least.

Our Tip for the 2.10pm at Sandown:

The Charlie Appleby stable can do little wrong this season and the Godolphin trainer can land another decent prize with the hat-trick-seeking Wild Beauty in this Listed two-year-old contest.

The daughter of Frankel, after a promising debut at Ascot in May, has done nothing wrong in winning both of her subsequent starts, at Haydock and Newbury.

William Buick’s mount clearly has a big reputation, having gone off favourite for all of her races to date, and while this will be the first time the filly has encountered fast ground, is expected to cope with, or even improve for, the underfoot conditions.

The unexposed Newmarket maiden scorer Inspiral looks the main danger, while best of those at a double-figure price may be northern raider Almohandesah.

Our Tip for the 2.20pm at Worcester:

In receipt of weight from his five rivals, the Fergal O’Brien-trained Castel Gandolfo should take plenty of beating in this two mile handicap hurdle, providing the consistent grey puts in a better round of jumping than was the case when going down by three quarters of a length over course and distance earlier this month.

The mount of Paddy Brennan is normally quite fluent over an obstacle. But a sloppy display almost certainly cost the Dark Angel gelding the race when finishing a close third last time. The four-year-old is sure to have been well schooled over the last couple of weeks and based on his two previous victories, at Fakenham and here at Worcester, is fancied to regain the winning thread.
