The Best Horse Racing Tips for Taunton on Thursday

ITV4 cameras will be showing two races live from the meeting at Taunton on Thursday afternoon, the extended two mile Invest Southwest Handicap Hurdle at 2.05pm and thirty five minutes later, the Arthur & Peggy White Memorial Handicap Chase, run over 2m 7f.

We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for both of these races at the Somerset track, together with the Class 4 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Mares’ Handicap Hurdle at 4.15pm.

Our Tip for the 2.05pm at Taunton:

The impressive winner of a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle race at Newbury last week, the Paul Nicholls-trained Tomorrow Mystery has been raised no less than a stone by the handicapper following that six and a half length victory over the in-form Playa Blanca.

The mount of Harry Cobden gets to race off her old mark in this extended two mile contest and the daughter of Nathaniel is impossible to oppose against a field of mainly exposed rivals. The Emma Lavelle-trained Shiroccan Roll and talented claimer Ben Jones are taken to follow the selection home.

Our Tip for the 2.40pm at Taunton:

Pontresina is likely to prove popular in this 2m 7f handicap chase following the seven-year-old’s excellent start to a chasing career. The mount of Jonathan Burke would have been unbeaten over fences in his two starts over fences but for losing the race in the stewards’ room on the gelding’s chasing debut at Fontwell in September.

The son of Milan made up for that reverse with a victory at Kempton on his most recent start and off a mark just 4lb higher, deserves his place at the head of the market. Looksnowtlikebrian wasn’t beaten far in both of his races this season and has the services of jockey Richard Johnson in the saddle. But the value of the race could lie with the Nigel Twiston-Davies’ runner, One Forty Seven.

Tom Bellamy’s mount beat fellow rival Irish Prophecy by over five lengths at Southwell back in July and finds himself 1lb better off at the weights. The eight-year-old has failed to progress from that victory in three starts but was in the process of running a good race at Fakenham last time, when unseating his rider at the final fence after being hampered by a faller.

Our Tip for the 4.15pm at Taunton:

Rose To Fame, from the in-form Kim Bailey stable, made all to win on the course recently and should make a bold bid to follow up. The Nicky Henderson-trained Miss Farage was going to be the selection but was declared a late non-runner, leaving Frau Georgia as the one to take advantage.

The Neil Mulholland-trained mare ran out an easy winner at Perth on her seasonal reappearance in August. But it was the daughter of Germany’s most recent effort which makes her the one to beat, after beating all bar the well-handicapped Oscars Moonshine at Wincanton.

The Paul Nicholls’ runner looked a handicap good thing on that occasion, but Frau Georgia went down by just a length with the third horse some four lengths away. A reproduction of that effort would make Tom Scudamore’s mount hard to beat in this mares’ handicap.
