The Best Horse Racing Tips for Stratford & Ffos Las on Thursday

Horse Racing tips for the meetings at Stratford and Ffos Las on Thursday afternoon
At 6/1 a £10 bet would return £70

With the meetings at Ascot and Wetherby this weekend, national hunt racing starts to get into full swing. Stratford and Ffos Las provide the jumps action on Thursday afternoon and both courses stage decent competitive cards.

Today’s Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions come in Stratford’s extended 2m 3f Class 3 handicap chase at 2.05pm and at 3.15pm another handicap chase, this one to be run over an extended 2m 6f. At the Welsh racecourse our Horse Racing tip runs in the 3m handicap hurdle at 4.50pm.

Our Tip for the 2.05pm at Stratford:

Making his debut over fences, the Dan Skelton-trained Cadzand is without doubt the most exciting runner in this Class 3 handicap chase. It would be no surprise to see the six-year-old competing in Graded company before long.

But on this occasion it may be worth siding with a rival who boasts plenty of chasing experience and did nothing but improve towards the end of last season, winning his final three starts, and going up 29lb to a mark of 131. The horse in question, Kap Auteuil, showed very little over hurdles but since going over the bigger obstacles, the Kapgarde gelding has looked to be a chaser with a big future ahead of him.

Trainer Toby Lawes, previous number two to Nicky Henderson and taking over from Andrew Wates, will be keen to get his career off to a good start and in Kap Auteuil he has a horse who is capable of yet more improvement in the months ahead.

Of the rest, Carys’ Commodity has the scope to make an impact over fences, a remark which also applies to Le Cameleon, providing Nick Williams’ charge can get his jumping together.

Our Tip for the 3.15pm at Stratford:

It may be no coincidence that the best runs achieved by the Colin Tizzard-trained Duc Kauto have come following breaks of 189 and 174 days respectively, courtesy of victories over hurdles at Plumpton and fences at Wincanton.

The mount of Brendan Powell disappointed on his most recent start at Wincanton in March. But the combination of a break of almost eight months and a recent wind op may see a return to form for the eight-year-old who, at his best, would take plenty of beating in this modest contest.

Sublime Heights is interesting on his first run over fences while Zuckerberg is capable of winning a race of this nature if things were to drop right for the frustrating performer.

Our Tip for the 4.50pm at Ffos Las:

Plenty of these are more at home over the bigger obstacles and are likely to improve with this run under their belts. One exception is Colorado Doc who, despite having two chase wins to his name, won over hurdles at Worcester earlier this month.

The mount of Conor Brace should go well, but on his first outing for the in-form stable of Fergal O’Brien, Eyeofthescorpion makes plenty of appeal in the hands of regular pilot Kielan Woods.

The seven-year-old finished first or second on all five starts prior to a luckless fifth place at Warwick last month, almost coming to grief at the second last hurdle after stumbling badly. The Scorpion gelding was still beaten just under six lengths however and granted more good fortune on this occasion is fancied to go close.
