Doncaster’s Town Moor is the scene of week two of the Racing League on Thursday evening. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for three of the races taking place, starting with a five furlong sprint handicap at 5.42pm.
The other two races we will supply Horse Racing tips for come at 7.20pm, a handicap run over Doncaster’s straight mile, along with a 1m 2f handicap at 7.53pm.
Our Tip for the 5.42pm at Doncaster:
A winner at Pontefract on her second start as a juvenile, the Paul Midgley-trained Ballintoy Harbour made the perfect start to her three-year-old campaign when the filly recorded an easy victory on Newcastle’s all-weather surface in April.
The mount of Paul Mulrennan found things tougher when stepping into handicap company however, suffering defeats at Redcar and York, despite showing plenty of promise.
A well-backed 7/1 chance on her most recent start at Newmarket, Ballintoy Harbour began to fulfil her earlier potential when running out a cosy three quarters of a length winner.
Despite facing only six rivals at headquarters, the runner-up Clarendon House, sixth Country Carnival and seventh Shining Success have all come out and won recently.
A 6lb higher mark is unlikely to prevent the unexposed Ballintoy Harbour from following up.
Our Tip for the 7.20pm at Doncaster:
Sent off the 11/2 market leader for the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot last time, dual winner Air To Air could never get into a challenging position from his low draw, eventually finishing ninth in the field of 29.
The first three horses home in that one mile handicap were drawn 19, 25 and 28 respectively. While two of those just in front of Air To Air, who were also poorly berthed, Dubai Honour and Qaader, have subsequently landed competitive handicaps.
The George Boughey-trained gelding runs off the same mark as at the royal meeting and is fancied to get back to winning ways in the hands of Nicola Currie over the same course and distance where the three-year-old ran out an impressive winner back in June.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained Adelisa, on just her fourth start, could prove better than her mark of 80 and is feared most.
Our Tip for the 7.53pm at Doncaster:
Since joining trainer David O’Meara from Andre Fabre in France back in May the five-year-old Khagan has hardly set the world alight in four runs for his new connections.
However, the mount of Daniel Tudhope has shown enough promise to suggest that the dual group-placed gelding is now becoming seriously well handicapped off a mark some 11lb lower than when joining O’Meara three months ago.
While yet to make the frame this season, Khagan has performed better than the form book would suggest, in particular on his most recent start at Chester when looking to have most of his rivals in trouble from the front, until weakening inside the final furlong.
With those runs under his belt, the selection could leave his recent form behind in the second half of the season, commencing with a big run in this Class 3, 0-90 contest.
Russian Virtue and Irish challenger Sheer Chance can prove the main dangers.
