The Best Horse Racing Tips for Chepstow on Thursday

Thursday’s jump racing in Britain comes from the Welsh racecourse at Chepstow, home of the Welsh Grand National. Today’s Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions all take place at the track situated just 16 miles from Bristol, starting with the opening mares’ handicap hurdle at 12.05pm.

Our second and third Horse Racing tips are both in chases, the Cazoo Handicap Chase at 2.50pm along with the final race on the card at 3.50pm, the Coral Fail To Finish Free Bets Handicap Chase.

“Tip of the Day” – The Mighty Arc (3.50pm Chepstow)

The Charlie Longsdon-trained The Mighty Arc has looked a natural chaser after just two runs over fences and is taken to get the better of main market rival Gemirande.

Lettie Lutz EW (Longshot) – 12:05pm Chepstow

The lightly-raced Donald McCain-trained Lady Tremaine is expected to be sent off a warm favourite for this mares’ handicap hurdle following the daughter of Kalanisi’s victory at Bangor last month.

The mount of leading jockey Brian Hughes is obviously the one to beat but at a double figure price Lettie Lutz from the in-form Ben Case stable may prove a better value bet on just her fourth start over hurdles.

The daughter of Mahler showed plenty of promise on her first two starts over the smaller obstacles when placed in novice hurdles here and at Exeter. The mount of Ben Jones disappointed on her first attempt in handicap company at Ffos Las last month.

Many horses fail to show their form at that Welsh track and Lettie Lutz is definitely worth another chance in this company based on the mare’s previous two efforts and off an attractive mark of 104.

Early Du Lemo (NB) – 2:50pm Chepstow

Three of the four horses at the top of the handicap for this 2m handicap chase all fell on their most recent starts over fences, the exception being Galop De Chasse who made a winning debut after joining trainer Venetia Williams from France last month.

That Lingfield victory was in a pretty weak contest however and the mount of Charlie Deutsch is not guaranteed to confirm that form on 9lb worse terms with fellow rival Gingembre Menthe, who fell after jumping the third-last fence when still going ok.

Top weight Can You Call, following an eye catching first run over fences on this course in November, was sent off favourite for his next start at Hereford and was still in with a chance when falling two from home. Evan Williams’ charge should go close with a clear round of jumping but slight preference on this occasion is for the more experienced Gary Moore-trained contender Early Du Lemo.

This will be the 12th run over fences for the grey Early March gelding whose only victory came off a 1lb lower mark at Lingfield in January 2019. The mount of Jamie Moore made a promising reappearance when finishing third at Sandown last month before falling at Newbury on his most recent start when bang in contention with four to jump.

Normally a reliable jumper, the nine-year-old, with conditions to suit and off a fair mark of 119 is fancied to win for the first time in three years.

The Mighty Arc (NAP) – 3:50pm Chepstow

With most of the nine runners for this handicap chase having shown little in the way of worthwhile form recently, this contest could rest between the Venetia Williams-trained Gemirande and The Mighty Arc from the stable of Charlie Longsdon.

The former, a winner on very soft ground at Pau when trained in France, found only Ahead Of The Field a length and a half too good on his British debut at Southwell last month. The mount of Charlie Deutsch didn’t impress with his jumping however and ran in snatches, whereas The Mighty Arc on both of his starts over fences has looked far more straightforward.

Sean Quinlan’s mount, jumping like an old hand, made no mistake on his chasing debut at Worcester and while only third next time, failed to get the best of runs and only weakened inside the last hundred yards. In a race with question marks hanging over all of his rivals, the seven-year-old should take plenty of beating.
