The Best Horse Racing Tips for Chepstow & Catterick on Tuesday

Flat racing in Britain on Tuesday afternoon comes from the meeting at Catterick in North Yorkshire. Today’s Horse Racing nap runs in their 2.05pm race, a 5f Class 6 handicap.

We will also provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races from the jumps card at Chepstow, an extended 2m 7f handicap hurdle at 3.05pm and at 4.15pm a handicap chase, also run over the same distance.

Our Tip for the 2.05pm at Catterick:

Having his first start for trainer Danny Brooke two weeks ago at Musselburgh, the ex Lawrence Mullaney inmate Val De Travers very nearly made a winning debut for his new connections, failing by a fast-diminishing head to catch the winner, Mansfield, after meeting plenty of trouble in running.

That was only the fifth career start for the son of Swiss Spirit who, with that run under his belt, is surely capable of winning a moderate contest like this off a mark of just 56. Jockey Paul Mulrennan takes over in the saddle for the first time and from what could prove a good draw in stall 12 the unexposed three-year-old looks the one they all have to beat.

The main danger is likely to be Zoom Star, drawn next door in stall 11, who won for the first time at Beverley in August following several decent efforts earlier in that month.

Our Tip for the 3.05pm at Chepstow:

The hat-trick-seeking Moon King and the lightly-raced Philip Hobbs-trained Off The Planet are two of the most likely winners of this extended 2m 7f handicap hurdle. However, at a double-figure price it could pay to take a chance on Dr Des who will be having his third start for trainer Peter Bowen following spells with Henry Oliver and G J Barber.

The 10-year-old has won four of his 13 starts over hurdles and is now racing off a career-low mark of just 109 (last three wins came off 142, 140 and 120). On his most recent outing at Perth last month, the Double Eclipse gelding ran his best race for some time when beaten less than seven lengths in fifth place. At a big price, James Bowen’s mount is fancied to run well in an open race.

Our Tip for the 4.15pm at Chepstow:

All bar Eva’s Oskar (yet to be placed in four starts over fences) will be making their debuts over the bigger obstacles in this novices’ limited handicap chase. The Paul Nicholls-trained Jeremy Pass has the potential to make his mark over fences. But the mount of Harry Cobden did not look the most resolute of performers over hurdles.

In receipt of weight from all of his rivals and with a victory over hurdles on the course earlier in the year, Champagne Rhythm, from the stable of Evan Williams, is fancied to make a winning debut over fences in the hands of jockey Adam Wedge.

The six-year-old gelding has done most of his racing at Chepstow (five of his six starts), improving with each run and culminating with a comfortable three length win on his most recent start. The son of Oscar has always looked like a chaser in the making and can take this handicap before going on to better things.
