Warwick and Ffos Las provide some interesting national hunt action in Britain on Thursday afternoon. We will provide Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions for two races at the West Wales Racecourse, together with one Horse Racing tip for the Midlands venue.
Eight runners have been declared for an interesting Class 3 handicap chase at Warwick, for which we will supply a Horse Racing tip. The result of Ffos Las’ Intermediate Hurdle at 3.18pm could provide plenty of clues for the future. We will give a tip for this 2m contest, together with the following 3m handicap chase at 3.53pm.
Our Tip for the 2.20pm at Warwick:
Denmead and Court Master are the two interesting contenders in the eight-runner handicap chase. The former represents the powerful Dan Skelton stable and, after running well for a long way in Newcastle’s prestigious Northumberland Plate at the end of June, had his first run over fences three weeks later at Stratford.
Well-backed to make a winning debut over the bigger obstacles, the gelding led for much of the race, until weakening after reportedly bursting a blood vessel. Harry Skelton’s mount has the potential to make a decent chaser during the season ahead.
The case for the Michael Scudamore-trained Court Master is much more straightforward however, as the seven-year-old has already won two of his three starts over the bigger obstacles. Wind surgery of 15 months ago seems to have helped the son of Court Cave, who went on to win novice handicap chases at Musselburgh and Newbury.
The mount of Brendan Powell was not disgraced on his most recent start at Cheltenham when finishing eighth behind subsequent festival winners Simply The Betts and Imperial Aura. the gelding commences the season on a reasonable mark of 120 and can take this before competing at a higher level.
Our Tip for the 3.18pm at Ffos Las:
The Evan Williams-trained Ballinsker, the winner of an Irish point-to-point in April 2019, could be a horse to follow this season, based on two promising efforts since joining his current handler.
The gelding looked to have the beating of odds-on favourite Humble Hero when that horse fell at the second-last hurdle, the Ludlow race in which Ballinsker made a winning debut in this country last October.
The five-year-old’s only other outing came in a Haydock Listed race, when finishing a decent fourth behind a good horse in Thebannerkingrebel, despite racing keenly. Ballinsker possesses huge potential and can win this before going on to better things.
The selection is unlikely to have things all his own way however, as he faces two serious rivals in Milkwood and Stimulating Song. The former recorded a good effort when finishing second in a Wincanton handicap under a big weight, while the latter was an easy winner of a Wetherby novice hurdle at the beginning of the year.
Our Tip for the 3.53pm at Ffos Las:
Recent Uttoxeter scorer Peur De Rien will be fancied by many to follow up in this 3m handicap chase. But an 8lb rise will make life tougher for Daryl Jacob’s mount, leaving Minella Examiner as the one to beat.
Well beaten on his chasing debut at Taunton last December, the gelding put that experience to good use two weeks later when attempting to make all in a competitive handicap chase at Wetherby. Still three lengths ahead approaching the second-last fence, the mount of Danny Cook made his only mistake of the race and paid the penalty.
Warren Greatrex’s charge made no mistake next time, winning easily at Doncaster, before ending the season with a slightly disappointing third place, again on Town Moor. Minella Examiner possesses more potential than any of his eight rivals and should take plenty of beating if fit enough on his reappearance.
