The Best Horse Racing Tips for Taunton & Nottingham on Wednesday

Horse Racing on Wednesday afternoon comes from the Flat meeting at Nottingham and the two jump cards at Taunton and Fakenham.

We will provide Horse Racing tips for Nottingham’s 5f Class 3 handicap at 2.15pm, while over at Taunton we will supply Horse Racing tips for the races taking place at 2.30pm and 3.05pm.

Our Tip for the 2.15pm at Nottingham:

The Michael Appleby-trained Raasel missed a race at Doncaster on Saturday to run here and the lightly-raced sprinter must have a good chance of winning for the fourth time in just over a month.

James Doyle’s mount looks sure to head the betting and against 13 rivals, most of which have been running well of late, the value may lie elsewhere in this competitive Class 3 sprint handicap.

Josies Kid, Faustus and Count D’orsay are all capable of taking a hand in the finish. But at a double-figure price, Rebel At Dawn from the Karl Burke stable makes plenty of each-way appeal with those bookmakers going four places.

The mount of Jason Hart has not won since beating fellow rival Faustus over course and distance back in June but has been running consistently well, including when finishing sixth, beaten a length and a half behind stablemate Significantly at Royal Ascot.

The Dandy Man gelding runs off a 5lb lower mark here and a similar performance would put the three-year-old in with a great chance.

Our Tip for the 2.30pm at Taunton:

This extended two mile handicap hurdle looks to concern a couple of bang-in-form contenders, the Donald McCain-trained hat-trick-seeking See The Sea and bottom weight Pillar Of Steel, who will attempt to make it six wins from her last seven starts.

The two horses met each other almost two months ago at Uttoxeter, John Spearing’s mare coming out on top by five and a half lengths. Peter Kavanagh’s mount will be 5lb better off on this occasion but the 3lb claim of Fergus Gregory may just tip the balance in favour of Pillar Of Steel once again.

Top weight Glory And Honour looked a talented prospect after winning races at Huntingdon and Lingfield last season. But the five-year-old will need to improve significantly on his first run of this campaign at Chepstow if the gelding is to pose a threat to the two principles.

Our Tip for the 3.05pm at Taunton:

Setting out to make all of the running on his last two starts, a change of tactics have seen the Keiran Burke-trained Soul Icon in a completely different light, the four-year-old now on a hat-trick of victories after easy wins at Huntingdon and Exeter this month.

This will be just the sixth run over hurdles for the son of Sixties Icon who, despite having to carry a 7lb penalty, still looks well ahead of the handicapper off bottom weight of 10st and against a field of mainly out-of-form rivals.

The winning jockey on Soul Icon’s two wins was Mr Frederick Procter who is once again in the saddle for this race, limited to conditional and amateur riders. King’s Proctor would appear to be the main danger to the selection but faces a stiff task in trying to give the improving performer 22lb.
