The Best Horse Racing Tips for York & Sandown on Friday

A busy day of Horse Racing action with six meetings taking place in Britain and two in Ireland. We will concentrate on two of the afternoon cards for Friday’s Horse Racing tips, previews and predictions, those at York and Sandown.

On the Knavesmire we will supply Horse Racing tips for the extended 1m 2f handicap at 2.20pm. And at 4.35pm the 17-runner Class 3 handicap, over a distance of 7f. At Sandown our Horse Racing tip comes in the Thames Ditton Handicap, also run over 7f and due to take place at 2.10pm.

Our Tip for the 2.10pm at Sandown:

The hat-trick-seeking The Whipmaster, Military Man, Dashing Dick and Melody Of Life all post good chances of landing this 7f handicap. But this looks a good opportunity for the Mark Johnston-trained Prospect to open his account after occupying the runner-up spot on six of his twelve starts to date.

The Shalaa gelding has been mainly campaigned over the minimum trip. But stepping up to seven furlongs on his last two starts, the mount of Ben Curtis has shown signs that a first win may not far away

The ground at Yarmouth on his most recent start may have been too soft for the three-year-old who should appreciate the faster conditions at the Esher track. And off what is now a career-low mark of 70, the selection makes plenty of appeal.

Our Tip for the 2.20pm at York:

The Tim Easterby-trained seven-year-old Regal Mirage has been a grand servant for connections over the years, winning 10 of his 44 starts to date. Following a slightly disappointing 2020, when recording just the one victory from seven outings, the son of Aqlaam has hit a rich vein of form of late and looks poised to take his win tally up to 11 in this Class 4 extended 1m 2f contest.

The mount of David Allen defied a burden of 10st 1lb to win comfortably at Beverley in April before finishing a creditable second at Pontefract six days later. However, Regal Mirage’s best effort this season probably came at Hamilton last week when just failing to hold the late challenge of Gulf Of Poets after looking all over the winner.

A reproduction of that effort should be good enough to take this race on the Knavesmire, with recent Newcastle scorer Civil Law and the unexposed Desert Emperor likely to cause the selection most problems.

Our Tip for the 4.35pm at York:

Of his three visits to the Knavesmire, the best effort from the Tim Easterby-trained True Blue Moon came under similar conditions to which the son of Holy Roman Emperor will encounter today, namely a trip of 7f on good to firm ground.

That performance was achieved last July when finishing third behind fellow rival Firmament with today’s likely market leader Danielsflyer back in 10th place. Whereas the winner on that occasion has proved a big disappointment of late True Blue Moon has been running consistently well, including when recording victories at Ayr and Hamilton.

With talented 5lb claimer Ella McCain in the saddle for the first time, the grey six-year-old is fancied to make the frame at the very least. The in-form trio of Danielsflyer, Lola Showgirl and Paxos are feared most in this 17-runner handicap.
