PERFECT POWER (3.05) was a class act as a 2-year-old, winning the Norfolk at this meeting 12 months ago, and then went on to dine at the top table winning the Prix Morny and Middle Park. A smooth win over 7f on his comeback in the Greenham followed, then to my mind, he simply did not stay 1m in the 2000 Guineas.
He can make amends here dropping back down into a 6f assignment at a track that holds no fears. This individual as serious fears and is the one I think they all have to beat. Christophe Soumillon takes the ride for the Richard Fahey team and he produce the goods here.
- bet365 3:05pm Royal Ascot - Perfect Power 4/1
Later on, I will take a chance on LYSANDER (5.35) for the William Haggas/Tom Marquand combination. I suppose the make-up of this race mainly depends on how much petrol Changingoftheguard has left in the tank after his recent Epsom excursions. There is a possibility he could bomb out despite having a fair bit in hand on ratings. Lysander ran well in defeat at Goodwood last time out, but us unexposed and should be suited even better here by this greater examination of stamina. He remains a colt with plenty of potential and is the value call here against the Aidan O’Brien hotpot.
- bet365 5:35pm Royal Ascot - Lysander 7/2
In the finale over the flying five furlongs, I think NYMPHADORA is the each-way play. She ran a real eye-catcher at Chester last time out despite not getting the smoothest of passageways and looking a little uncomfortable on Chester’s speed-demanding track. Ascot should be fine, and with the excellent Harry Davies on board, I do think this Andrew Balding representative won’t be far away off a mark of 96.
- bet365 6:10pm Royal Ascot - Nymphadora 16/1
