Here are the four selections we fancy today:
Burena - 1:40pm - 10/1 with Paddy Power
A solid fourth on handicap debut here 11 days ago, behind Greavsie, who is also in the field. This time around, Burena is 6lb better at the weights, and given the gap between them in the first meeting was just two and a half lengths, that could be enough to pull these two much closer together this time around. Trainer Clive Cox has put first time blinkers on Burena, which could bring further improvement if she takes to them, making her appeal at double figure odds.
Ostilio - 2:10pm - 5/1 with Paddy Power
A horse that has tumbled down the weights in the past 12 months, he was rated in the 90s this time last year. He’s been running in far better races than this, but now drops to a class 6 contest, and has to be respected on that alone. He was eighth in a decent race at Chelmsford last time out, but was only four and a half lengths behind the winner in a bunched finish, and has been dropped a further 3lb in the weights for that. There’s plenty in here with question marks, and while he’s clearly on the decline, there could be enough in the tank for Ostilio to take this low grade contest.
Bella Colorossa - 2:40pm - 10/1 with Paddy Power
This horse recorded an emphatic win last year off a mark of 45, moving away from the field to win by almost five lengths, and that put him up 10lb in the weights. Life has been tough since then, but Bella Colorossa is almost back down to that mark of 45 now, and runs here off 47. That run was at this course too, which is another positive, and she is also down into the bottom grade here. Combine all of that and in this weak contest, she is of interest at a nice price.
Silver Dollar - 3:50pm - 17/2 with Paddy Power
A horse that has been running better than recent results suggest, and is down in the weights here. He’s finished seventh and fifth in his last two runs, but has been within three lengths of the winner in both of those races, which he ran in off a mark of 62. Down to 60 here, he looks capable of getting involved in the finish, and that mark is a very attractive one when you look back to his course and distance win off a mark of 65 last year.
