June 06, 2018
England face Costa Rica in final warm-up game ahead of 2018 World Cup
Gareth Southgate will line his England side up for one more international friendly before heading to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as they face Costa Rica on Thursday night.
The Three Lions secured a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in their most recent outing thanks to goals from Chelsea defender Gary Cahill and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Costa Rica, who were one of the surprise packages of the last World Cup in Brazil, are next up for England in their final preparations before the big tournament kick-off.
The hosts are 13/5 with Betfred to secure the win and both teams to score once again in their last clash before departing for Russian territory. Their next game after this will be their Group A opener against Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica are 12/1 with Ladbrokes to earn a victory this week. They will hold no fear of England, having qualified top of their group at the 2014 World Cup, in which the Three Lions came in bottom position in the standings.
Harry Kane to continue fine form in front of goal before Russia
After a sublime season for Spurs in the Premier League, Harry Kane continued his rich run of form in front of goal for England in his latest international outing.
The Tottenham hitman was on target in the 2-1 triumph over African nation Nigeria last time out, bagging the eventual winner for the Three Lions.
Kane will hope to gain further scoring success and momentum against Costa Rica this week before jetting off to Russia, where he will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the prestigious Golden Boot.
He is therefore worth backing at 12/5 with bet365 to get on the scoresheet with the game’s opening goal here.
